Full job description
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and support Linux-based environments to ensure application availability, stability, and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, middleware, and operating system issues within agreed SLAs. Perform root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures to minimize recurrence. Write and optimize SQL queries in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases for troubleshooting and operational support. Manage and support web and application servers, including Tomcat, JBoss, and Apache. Monitor system health and analyze logs using tools such as Grafana, Kibana, ELK Stack, Chronograf, and Nagios. Develop and utilize scripts for automation, operational efficiency, and issue resolution. Investigate network-related issues and perform packet analysis using TCP Dump and related tools. Collaborate with development, database, network, and infrastructure teams to resolve complex technical issues. Support application deployments, configuration changes, and environment maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with incident, problem, and change management processes. Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge repository articles. Participate in on-call support and critical incident management activities when required. Provide technical support for telecom applications and services while ensuring optimal system performance. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, automation, and operational excellence.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience in Linux administration, troubleshooting, system monitoring, and performance tuning. Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving application, middleware, and Linux platform-related issues. Strong expertise in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries in Oracle and PostgreSQL environments. Hands-on experience with web and application servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, and related middleware technologies. Working knowledge of Shell Scripting, Python, or Perl for automation and operational support. Good understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, and packet analysis using TCP Dump. Experience with monitoring, observability, and log analysis tools such as Grafana, Kibana, ELK Stack, Chronograf, and Nagios. Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes. Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related discipline. 3-8 years of experience in Application Support, Production Support, Technical Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, or System Administration. Experience working in Telecom, IT Services, Managed Services, or Software Product organizations. Exposure to cloud-based environments, automation tools, and DevOps practices would be an advantage.
