ROLE OBJECTIVE

Supervisor R&D Product Development Engineering is responsible to oversees a team of product development specialists. This position ensures development of Low voltage / High Voltage Connectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises and supports development staff in Product Design / Development team size of 3-4 members

Facilitates development processes, coordinate in materials selection and component integration

Convert customer and market requirements into product design.

Authorize the Product Design, CAD models & Drawings for the Production

Troubleshoots technical problems during the engineering stage

Apply Six Sigma / Quality methodologies to design, development and delivery of technology products and process.

Implements DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs of manufacturing.

Analyzes the implementation challenges of DFM methodologies & Provide solutions

Utilizes appropriate tools and techniques for converting product or material requirements into a technical design

Creates and monitors development plans; communicates working activities/status to team, management, sales and operations.

Supervises development and performance management of team members

Work closely with customer/sales/Project Management in getting the right and clear VOC (voice of customer), make engineering evaluation/proposal to customer.

Maintain a System level understanding of customer application and the concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers expectation

Responsible for documentation of learnings and presenting to the team

Ensure Time & Resource Management during Product Design / Development

Responsible for Hiring & skill development of staff

EDUCATION & CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

B.E/B. Tech / MTech in Mechanical Engineering (equivalent)

Min 10 years (for BE / B.Tech) of experience in Product Development / Product Engineering activities.

Min 8 years (for M Tech) of experience in Product Development / Product Engineering activities

COMPETENCIES

Mandatory:

Working knowledge of product development (Processes, Approaches, Tools and Techniques) & Validation

Proficient in Injection Mold & High-speed stamping

Mentoring skills on Product development / Engineering Tools .

Working knowledge to apply Six Sigma DMADV methodology to the design, development, and delivery of technology products and process.

Proficient with use of CAD systems (CREO Part modeling & Sheet Metal)

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings/product prints

Interpretation of simulation results & translating into product design

Working knowledge in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & FMEA

Proficient in Tolerance stack-up and GD&T

Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills

Working knowledge in prototyping

Working knowledge in Manufacturing process (Molding / Stamping / Plating)

Understanding of linear and non-linear analysis

Working knowledge of product life cycle, ability to perform design activity & produce deliverables.

Basic Knowledge in quality tools ( 8D, Why Why analysis, Fish bone.)

Proficient with Plastics & Sheet Metal components

Awareness on recognition & protection of IP(intellectual property) features

Basic knowledge on PPAP documentation.

Preferred:

Knowledge of customers application

Experience in development of Electromechanical products like Connectors, Charge inlets & Relays

Department specific:

Exposure to High Voltage connectors and Creepage (EMC) calculation

Ability to understand specification for validation as per US CAR / LV 214 / Similar Specification

Knowledge about the crimping technologies, Ultrasonic welding technologies, Laser welding technologies
