The role also applies observability and reliability engineering to distributed platforms.

Full job description

Responsibilities:

Design and evolve self-service tools, service templates, scaffolding, and paved-road patterns that embody best practices for engineering teams.

Infrastructure as Code: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using Terraform (or CloudFormation) at enterprise scale.

CI/CD Mastery: Lead the design and optimization of robust, automated deployment pipelines supporting our Single Tool Chain initiative, incorporating GitOps practices.

Kubernetes and Container Orchestration: Architect, manage, and scale our EKS environments, including advanced networking, ingress, resource optimization, observability, and reliability engineering.

Build and enhance developer tooling, platform APIs, and abstractions that significantly improve developer experience and productivity.

Reliability and Automation: Drive improvements in observability, incident response, chaos engineering, and platform resilience. Write production-grade automation in Python, Go, or Java.

Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to senior and mid-level DevOps/SRE engineers, drive engineering standards, conduct design reviews, and champion DevOps best practices across multiple teams.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between Development, SRE, Security, and Operations teams while partnering with engineering leadership on the roadmap and technical direction.

Requirements:

Experience: B. Tech with 10-15+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles with a strong focus on large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.

Coding Proficiency: Strong software engineering skills. You treat infrastructure and tooling as code. Proficiency in Java (for backend services) or Python or Go for tooling and automation. Ability to deliver maintainable, tested, production-grade code.

Cloud Expertise: Deep, expert-level experience with AWS (EKS, ECS, S3 Lambda, RDS, ECR, DynamoDB, networking primitives, IAM, etc. ).

Container and Orchestration: Expert knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (EKS), including advanced topics such as operators, service meshes, ingress controllers, and resource governance.

Platform Tooling: Hands-on experience with developer portals (e. g., Backstage) and GitOps workflows.

IaC and Tooling: Advanced Terraform (or CloudFormation), Artifactory/Nexus experience, and strong Linux fundamentals.

Software Engineering Fundamentals: Deep understanding of SDLC, clean architecture, design patterns, unit/integration testing, observability, and secure-by-default practices.

Strong familiarity with AI-powered development tools and best practices for using the right model for the right task, including Claude, GitHub Copilot / Copilot CLI, and OpenCode (or similar LLMs) to accelerate infrastructure-as-code generation, automation scripting, code reviews, and platform development.
