Full job description

A Senior Software Engineer in the database platform team has knowledge and ideas on how to develop innovative solutions smartly. The database platform is being built by a team that has the culture and the environment technologists find at a startup. We are looking for outstanding software engineers with strong development experience in building scalable and geo-distributed solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant programming languages, databases, transaction systems, distributed systems, consensus algorithms, replication, design patterns, storage, and networks. Exceptional problem-solving abilities will be critical for success, as will be a focus on quality. Responsibilities:

Be part of a team of phenomenal engineers building a next-gen database platform using the latest open-source technologies.

Design and implement differentiated production-ready features in a fast-paced environment with a focus on scalability, performance, geo-distribution, and availability.

Requirements:

More than 5 years of experience developing/testing/deploying secure, production-quality software products.

Expert-level programming (C++/Java) is required with a demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.

Prior experience building distributed systems at internet scale.

Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals: storage/buffer manager, WAL, MVCC, lock manager, query planner/executor. Alternatively, deep expertise in Streaming processing(Flink, Kafka, Message product) is also OK.

Strong transaction management background: isolation levels, concurrency control, deadlock detection, crash recovery, physical/logical replication, and HA/failover strategies.

Experience in performance engineering: profiling (perf, gdb, flamegraphs), benchmarking (pgbench), autovacuum tuning, index/statistics optimization, and I/O/memory optimization for large-scale workloads is preferred.

Technical leadership experience in guiding teams and making architectural decisions.

Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent is required.

Demonstrated experience in leading critical projects to production.
