Job Description

Sr. Controllership Analyst – Contract Reviews position is responsible for performing technical accounting reviews of customer contracts, proposals, amendments, and other commercial arrangements across multiple business segments. The role ensures consistent application of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606, and Honeywell accounting policies; evaluates revenue recognition and project accounting implications; and maintains high standards of documentation, accounting compliance, and internal control. The position partners closely with Controllership, Finance, Legal, Commercial, and business leadership to translate contract terms into clear accounting conclusions and practical guidance. The individual is a key member of the controllership team and a trusted advisor to regional and global business and finance leaders.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Lead timely, risk-based reviews of customer contracts, purchase orders, proposals, amendments, change orders, and related commercial arrangements for compliance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, corporate accounting policies, and applicable statutory requirements. Apply the ASC 606 five-step model to identify contracts and performance obligations, determine and allocate transaction price, and conclude on the timing and method of revenue recognition. Assess complex or non-standard provisions, including termination and cancellation rights, variable consideration, liquidated damages, acceptance clauses, warranties, payment terms, significant financing, principal-versus-agent considerations, and contract modifications. Evaluate project accounting implications, including point-in-time versus over-time recognition, measures of progress, contract costs, change orders, unbilled receivables, advances, loss provisions, and other judgmental matters. Prepare and review revenue recognition checklists, technical accounting memo, white papers, consultation documentation, and clearly supported accounting conclusions. Partner with Finance, Legal, Commercial, Project Management, and business teams before contract execution to interpret key provisions, identify accounting risks, and recommend practical contract language or mitigating actions. Provide clear accounting guidance and training to business and finance stakeholders on U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, project accounting, and corporate accounting policies. Administer accounting policies, coordinate significant or unusual matters with regional, SBU, SBG, and Corporate Controllership teams. Ensure contract-review processes and related internal controls are consistently executed, supported by sufficient evidence, and retained in accordance with governance requirements. Identify control or process gaps, support corrective action plans, monitor remediation, and drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement in the contract-review process. Support monthly and quarterly close activities by resolving contract-related accounting matters and reviewing significant judgments, journal entries, balance-sheet impacts, and disclosure considerations. Support internal and external audits, respond to technical accounting inquiries, and assist Controllership and Finance with special projects and emerging business models.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

4+ years of accounting, controllership, audit, or finance experience, including technical accounting, revenue recognition, project accounting, or business controls CA, CMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with any “Big 4” consulting firm, preferably serving multinational, industrial, or complex revenue-recognition clients Demonstrated experience applying U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 to customer contracts, revenue arrangements, or long-term projects Experience with technical accounting research and documentation; SAP, Hyperion, or similar ERP and reporting tools is advantageous
