Job Summary
Responsible for supporting, configuring, and continuously improving the software engineering tooling ecosystem used by R&D teams across the organization. The role helps ensure that tools supporting planning, collaboration, coding, testing, building, securing and deploying software remain reliable, efficient and aligned with the needs of engineering teams.
Examples of supported platforms include Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Bamboo, Artifactory and other software engineering, DevOps, and developer productivity tools.
The Software Tooling Support Engineer works closely with engineering teams, support partners, and stakeholders to provide operational support, implement improvements, and contribute to a consistent developer experience across the software development lifecycle.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Application Support & Service Delivery
· Provide functional and operational support for assigned software engineering tools and platforms.
· Resolve incidents, service requests, and user-reported issues within agreed service levels.
· Support users with application usage, access management and configuration-related requests.
· Collaborate with support teams and suppliers to ensure effective service delivery.
Application Administration & Configuration
· Configure and maintain application settings, permissions, workflows, templates, integrations and related configurations.
· Implement approved changes and enhancements.
· Support application upgrades, migrations and lifecycle management activities.
· Contribute to workflow automation and productivity improvements.
Testing & Change Support
· Coordinate and execute testing activities for application changes, upgrades and releases.
· Support user acceptance testing and deployment validation activities.
· Verify application functionality following implementations and system changes.
· Ensure changes are documented and communicated appropriately.
Continuous Improvement & User Enablement
· Contribute to initiatives that improve application stability, efficiency and user experience.
· Support onboarding, training, and adoption activities for engineering teams.
· Promote best practices and standard ways of working.
· Support the introduction of new capabilities and tooling enhancements.
Collaboration & Knowledge Management
· Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and support partners.
· Maintain application documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
· Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
· Participate in operational reviews, support meetings, and project activities.
