Job Description – Engineer II - Software Testing
Role Overview
We are looking for an Engineer II – Software Testing to join our engineering team and support the verification and validation of software systems.
The role will focus on testing embedded and application-level software, validating system functionality, identifying defects, and ensuring software performance and reliability against defined requirements. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in software testing concepts, basic understanding of embedded systems, and an interest in aerospace, avionics, flight systems, or UAV technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Understand software and system requirements and translate them into detailed test cases, test scenarios, and validation procedures.
Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and performance testing of software used in UAV and aerospace systems.
Execute manual and automated test cases and document test results.
Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects through closure.
Work closely with software, embedded, avionics, flight controls, systems, and hardware engineering teams to troubleshoot issues.
Validate software interfaces between various UAV subsystems including sensors, actuators, communication systems, flight controllers, and payloads.
Perform Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and, where applicable, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
Support testing of embedded software running on flight computers, controllers, and other avionics hardware.
Develop and maintain test scripts and test automation frameworks.
Verify software behaviour against system and software requirements.
Support software releases by conducting regression testing and release validation.
Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, test readiness reviews, and defect review meetings.
Maintain test documentation, test reports, defect logs, and traceability between requirements and test cases.
Support ground testing and, where required, flight-test activities for UAV platforms.
Analyse logs, telemetry, communication data, and system behaviour to identify software or integration issues.
Follow defined engineering processes, configuration management practices, and quality standards.
