Full job description

As a Software Engineer II, you will be part of the Shared Platforms Technology Engineering team, which is responsible for building next-generation tools and services that serve consumer-ready product information to Nike experiences and backend teams.

Responsibilities:

Participate in technical development and delivery of backend cloud-native microservices.

Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively, collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.

You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review processes and mentor other engineers on the team.

You will remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features.

You will support the team's agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch consumer experiences at scale.

Leverage GenAI-powered capabilities (RAG, prompt-driven workflows, MCP and spec-driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities and experiences.

Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps).

Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform.

Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.

Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help the team plan and execute sprint tickets.

Work in a full DevOps model in the entire tech stack, including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale.

Resolve technical issues and remove blockers for the team.

Actively participate in code review and feedback for other developers.

Own build, test, release, and production support for team-owned capabilities, ensuring stability, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.

Implement strong observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting.

Requirements:

As a Software Engineer II for the Geographies and Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission-critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Order Management platform that drives Nike's Digital transformation and growth strategies.

A minimum of 3+ years of software development experience.

Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment.

Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e. g., AWS Services, GCE, Azure, etc. ).

Experience in microservice architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful Services using Java and the Spring Boot framework mandatorily.

Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e. g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.

Experience in Test Driven development - with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.

Experience with monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.

Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.

Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.

Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams.

Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of projects/capabilities that include requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance, and support.

Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience.

Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness.

Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting.

The following would be nice-to-have:

Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications.
