The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.
Software Engineer-I develops and maintains software applications, writes clean and efficient code, completes code reviews with guidance and automated testing to ensure high-quality deliverables, debugs software components, and supports and monitors software across various environments.
Responsibilities
Develops and maintains software applicationsWrites clean, efficient, and well-documented codeCompletes code reviews and automated testing with guidance from peers and leadersDebugs basic software components and identifies code defects for remediationSupports and monitors software across test, integration, and production environmentsCollaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives
Qualifications
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experienceKnowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, NoSQL and relational databasesKnowledge of the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, crafting, building, testing, configuring, and maintaining of assigned application(s)
Work Experience
Upto 2 years of Software engineering and development experience or a related jobExperience in application design, software development, and automated testingExperience in object-oriented design and coding with variety of languagesExperience in distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databasesExperience in Agile software development methodologies and practices such as Scrum/Kanban, iterations, user storiesExperience in automation testing and documentation (i.e. automated, functional, and performance)Knowledge in Java/Go is preferred
