Best Buy™ India is seeking a Software Engineer I to play a key role in delivering software products for Best Buy’s Repair Journey & Tracking team. You will work with Product Managers, User Experience Designers, Architects, and other team members to modernize and build products that align to the product team’s vision and strategy. The engineering of these products will leverage multi-cloud platforms, human centered design, Agile and DevOps principles to deliver industry leading solutions at high velocity with unrivaled quality. You will work on a team of talented software engineering professionals, leading by example and mentoring others. Teams Overview:Repair Journey & Tracking Team: The Repair Journey & Tracking Team is responsible for building the digital experiences that support Best Buy customers throughout their repair lifecycle. The team develops web and mobile applications that enable customers to start repairs, track repair status, manage appointments, access support resources, and connect with the appropriate service channels. Leveraging React, React Native, Java Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native technologies, the team delivers modern, customer-centric solutions that provide transparency, reduce friction, and improve the overall repair experience. This work plays a key role in reducing service failures, lowering support costs, and ensuring customers remain informed and confident throughout their repair journey.
Key Responsibilities:Independently complete small- to medium-sized features and defectsParticipate in team planning activitiesAble to triage simple issues independently, and more complex issues with some assistanceParticipate in technical design and review of features, with guidanceConsistently follow best practices and guidelinesHelp to mentor new team membersKnow how to prioritize your own workUnderstand the business supported by your applicationsProactively communicate status and issues to their managerPropose ideas within the team to increase effectiveness through automationFocused learning to attain expertise in one or more technical areasShow a commitment to delivery deadlines, in particular seasonal and vendor partner deadlines that are critical to Best Buy’s continued success.
Requirements:3+ years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s or associate degree, OR equivalent.Intermediate level of React Native Experience creating mobile applications for iOS and AndroidProficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience building applications using React (functional components, hooks, and state management)Working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot for developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services in microservices-based architectures.Familiarity with Node.js for Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) implementations and API orchestration Excellent communication skills, especially when working with a distributed teamAbility to build & contribute to mobile applications and platforms in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of system designExcellent communication skills, especially when working with a distributed teamExperienced in creating Unit Tests using Junit and Jest or similarExperience with Modular Design patternsExperience with Aggregate Restful services and/or GraphQL.
Preferred:Experience working in an omni-channel retail environmentExperience in creating stateful mobile applicationsKnowledge and experience with “CI/CD” tooling and platforms, tools like GitHub, JenkinsAbility to work in a test-driven development environmentExperience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsUnderstanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practicesFamiliarity with monitoring, logging, and observability toolsFamiliarity with Jira and/or Miro and/or Figma.
