About The Team

The Local Mode team is building Git Native Postman—the bet that an API platform should live where developers already are: in the repository, on the filesystem, right next to the code. Instead of building a separate integration for every Git host, we’ve built a Git integration directly around the filesystem. Collections, specifications, environments, flows, and mocks become plain files that move through branches, pull requests, and CI like any other source code.

This foundation also makes agents genuinely useful in Postman. With filesystem, shell, and Git access, an agent can reproduce a failure, patch the code, verify the fix, and prepare the change for review.

If you’ve shipped developer tooling or desktop-class infrastructure, enjoy owning ambiguous problems end to end, and have opinions about what developer workflows should look like in the agentic era, you’ll fit in quickly.

The Role

We’re looking for a frontend-focused Software Engineer to help us define and build the best and most intuitive Git-native API client for developers.

You’ll shape how repositories, local files, branches, changes, conflicts, synchronization, and collaboration should look and feel inside Postman. This is a product-focused frontend role with meaningful systems depth: you’ll primarily build user experiences, while also contributing to Node.js, Electron, workers, synchronization logic, and command-line workflows when needed.

What You’ll Do

Design and build intuitive Git-native workflows for browsing and editing local resources, reviewing changes, resolving conflicts, and sharing work.Translate complex filesystem, Git, and cloud state into polished React experiences that developers can easily understand and trust.Contribute beyond the interface through Node.js, Electron, workers, asynchronous APIs, and command-line developer workflows.Design clear behavior for long-running operations, including progress, cancellation, retries, partial success, diagnostics, and recovery.Deliver responsive, accessible, and keyboard-first experiences that perform well with large repositories and deep file trees.Build quality through component, integration, and end-to-end testing, supported by instrumentation and user feedback.Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to prototype new ideas and define what Git-native and agentic API development should become.

What We’re Looking For

2–4 years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping high-quality production experiences.Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.Strong Node.js knowledge and experience with Electron or similar desktop concepts, including processes, IPC, and workers.A practical understanding of Git, filesystems, command-line workflows, web fundamentals, and cross-platform development.Experience modeling complex asynchronous UI state while maintaining strong performance, accessibility, and predictable behavior.A commitment to testable and maintainable code, with experience in component, integration, or browser-level testing.Strong ownership, product judgment, and communication skills, with an ability to simplify technical concepts and navigate ambiguity.
