The scope of activities includes supplier product qualification, audit, surveillance, quality issue resolution and root cause investigation.

What Impact You’ll Make

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) – Rotors & Airfoils is responsible for :

driving quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementationcollaborating with Engineering and Sourcing to select and approve suppliers through approval and qualification processesowning supplier assessments, part/process qualification supplier resultsdriving improvements utilizing supplier scorecards.owning ongoing supplier audits, and supplier monitoring ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

What You’ll Do

Be the primary interface between critical suppliers & engineering requirementsManage supplier quality, supplier performance, including formal Supplier Quality Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as appropriateSet qualification- surveillance strategyManage new supplier identification & developmentManage new Technology introduction & qualificationLead supplier quality reviewsBe the Primary Tech support for Sourcing/Manufacturing/EngineeringLead effort to reduce COQ and product DPMOPerform and lead Customer witness / inspection meetings at suppliersBe the other SQE’s mentorDevelop & Conduct SQE trainingLead supplier critical RCAs or support other business SQEs leading themIssue technical data to support Sourcing for critical Vendor Recovery and support the business SQEsExecute surveillance audits as per agreed planIdentify and Lead Process Capability initiativesMonitor Supplier scorecards – Quality Section and ensure accuracyBe accountable for functional, business, and broad company Supplier Quality objectivesDrive Supplier Quality initiatives to continually improve SQE team effectivenessDrive root cause identification for Cost of Failure and defect rate for suppliers in your scopeWork closely with engineering, manufacturing, product line, and commercial teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced componentsBe an advocate for standard work within the teamBe a Lean advocateDrive qualification simplification: reduce requirements based on experience, part family quals, etcSupport meetings with customer at GE factory or at supplier premises to discuss specific technical challengesParticipate in Design Reviews to optimize manufacturability of new designsLead “special” projects for the commodity: CMM point reduction, net shape on forgings, etc

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical with minimum 15+ years of experience in Sourcing/Engineering/Manufacturing experience preferably in Supplier Quality or equivalent experienceForging and/or machining process expertiseMetallurgical expertiseFamiliar with Airfoils manufacturing process (milling, shot peening, CMM)Experience with supplier qualification, development, manufacturing assessment, and surveillanceProduct line expertise of 10+ years with a technology/engineering backgroundDemonstrated effective interpersonal, teamwork, networking skills, collaboration & conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated project management skills to establish strategic goals and to prioritize, plan, delegate & evaluate deliverablesProcess improvement experience, knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & in-depth understanding of related processesRCA Leader certifiedStrong problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to develop & implement complex influencing & negotiating strategiesAbility to influence and enroll by making recommendations for appropriate action at all levels of the companyStrong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and write clearly & convincingly in English, tailoring communication methods to customer's requirementsAbility to respond / react with appropriate urgency / professionalism & make decisions under pressure / stressChange agent with energy, passion & enthusiasm to drive changeStrong business acumen; uses financial analysis to make important business decisions & understands key financial metricsAbility to articulate the company's business vision & key business objectives, understands business trends & cyclesAbility to make decisions under pressure and take ownership for assigned projects and programs
