YouTube is entering a new era defined by generative AI, and YouTube Create is the spearhead of this transformation. As the Uber Tech Lead (TL) for the YouTube Create Full Stack, you will define the technical roadmap across client app, infrastructure, and GenAI workstreams.

You will partner with senior leadership to scale our GenAI capabilities by 50x, positioning the app as the global industry standard for casual creators. This is a rare opportunity to pioneer the foundational technologies that will dictate the future of video content at Google and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Be the Uber TL for the entire YT Create.

Provide technical leadership and establish and evangelise best engineering practices across teams at YouTube

Provide technical mentorship and support the TLMs and TLs on the team with technical decisions.

Co-own the delivery of OKR and roadmap with the TLMs.

Providing technical guidance to the team.

Drive cross-organisational collaboration and ensure the strategy, direction, and decisions of multiple work streams are integrated, aligned, and positioned to support differentiation.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

8 years of experience in software development.

7 years of experience with full-stack development across back-end such as Java, Python, Go or C++ codebases and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

5 years of experience with designing, architecting and testing/launching software products.

Experience in technical leadership and engineering with building large-scale consumer products for users.

Experience with engineering in AI with a focus on applied AI or GenAI, software development and implementation.

Interest in working closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and graphic designers.

Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

12+ years of software development experience, or 8 years with an advanced degree.

Experience in technical leadership.

Engineering experience building large-scale consumer products with users.

Engineering experience in AI with a focus on applied AI or GenAI, software development and implementation.

Interest in working closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and graphic designers.
