As a Senior Staff Software Architect, you will define and evolve the architecture of Cardiology platform based on embedded software used across multiple products. This role requires strong architectural ownership beyond individual component development, with experience scaling design systems.

Job Description

We are in a phase of growth, designing next generation Cardiology devices. This requires an architect who thinks like a platform owner, not just a component builder. You must look beyond individual implementation details to think about scale, governance, and empowerment. You will define the architectural foundations and self-service patterns that let teams move fast without breaking the consistency, compatibility, and accessibility standards required for patient safety.

Core Responsibilities

Architecture & Platform Design Platform Architecture: Define and evolve scalable architecture for embedded system. Quality, Performance & Technical Debt Quality Strategy: Define quality strategy across unit, component, regression, integration, and E2E testing. Establish release-blocking quality gates and compatibility expectations. Performance Engineering: Diagnose and improve rendering, memory, bundle-size, and framework-integration performance. Define measurable performance baselines, and engineering health metrics rather than subjective assessments. Debt Prioritization: Prioritize technical and QA debt based on customer impact, adoption, risk, and maintainability. RoadmapArchitecture Roadmap: Create architecture roadmaps and guide long-term evolution without unnecessary rewrites, aligning with product priorities. Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Leadership, Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and engineering teams to drive architecture decisions across organizational boundaries.

Communicating Trade-offs & Alignment: Exceptional ability to communicate complex architectural concepts by clearly explaining options, technical trade-offs, risks, and long-term implications. Works closely with cross-functional engineering, UX, and product teams to ensure alignment and secure buy-in. Architectural Ownership: Acts as the clear architectural owner for Embedded System platform. Demonstrates cross-team architectural ownership rather than experience limited to individual contributor delivery. Applied AI for Development: Uses AI-assisted engineering for refactoring, testing, migrations, documentation, debugging, and code review. Understands model selection and context/token management. Can define safe team-level AI development practices (validation, security, human-review controls) and demonstrate measurable improvements in productivity. Evidence-Based Direction: Challenges existing architecture when required and can demonstrate examples where technical direction was corrected based on evidence. Mentorship: Mentors senior engineers and Tech Leads, raising architectural capability across the team. Balances scalability, compatibility, performance, developer experience, security, and delivery needs.

Required Skills

Proven experience architecting platforms or large design systems used by multiple applications. Hands on Linux based embedded software development; able to own, create and deliver platform components, application development and analyze and resolve technical issuesStrong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and C++ coding principles.Conduct technical design reviews of software to ensure reliability and performanceInteracting with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platformsEnsuring SDLC process compliance during requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, and verification.Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/positionComplete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as requiredEnsure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program DeliverablesLead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Essential Skills

Bachelor's Degree / Masters in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electronics or Software is preferred)15+ years of experience in developing embedded Linux platform application with at least 3 years in a lead architect role specifically focused on Embedded softwareStrong C, C++ language skills.Should have hands on experience in Shell / perl/ python scriptingExpertise in using Source control toolsExperience in Build automation and continuous integrationExcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with architects, product managers, and executive stakeholders.

Desired Skills

Master’s degree in engineering Compute Science or Electronics and Communication.Hardware Expertise: Knowledge on ARM based processor architecture, knowledge on USB/Flash/LAN/WLAN/Bluetooth technologies.Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issuesExperience in Eclipse, GITLABHands-on experience with UI development using QMLWorking Knowledge in Python and ability to Automate Integration Testing using Test frameworks like Squish.
