Software Engineering Manager

ChargePoint is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the software platform powering the world's largest EV charging network. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in distributed systems and full-stack development to drive the transition to electric mobility. Your work will directly impact the stability, performance, and scalability of solutions used by thousands of EV drivers globally.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join one of our teams to help maintain and enhance our cloud-based software platform for e-mobility. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of the platform, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features and improvements. Success in this role means balancing technical excellence with pragmatic solutions, writing clean code, and leading technical initiatives across the engineering organization.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

Collaborate with other software developers to align on project goals, architecture, and delivery timelines.

Implement and maintain scalable software solutions using PHP, balancing technical excellence with pragmatic solutions to deliver business value.

Leverage GitOps, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native tools to streamline deployment and infrastructure management.

Participate in architectural discussions, bringing forward innovative ideas and constructively challenging others' proposals.

Design and develop robust, secure, and highly available APIs for internal and external consumption.

Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly frontend components and interfaces using React.

Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, readability, and adherence to engineering best practices.

Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production environments, ensuring high availability of our distributed applications.

Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture to support a rapidly growing global user base.

Requirements

5+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in PHP and modern frontend frameworks, specifically React.

Strong experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and messaging/event-streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

Proven track record in backend development, object-oriented programming, and designing scalable APIs.

Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and scaling event-based distributed applications.

Commitment to writing clean, readable code with strong version control and source code management skills using Git.

Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and a willingness to embrace an open feedback culture.
