We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Locomotives to join our team in Bangalore.
You’ll Make a Difference By
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, integrating, validating, and sustaining locomotive control software solutions across multiple projects and platforms. You will collaborate closely with system engineering, testing, commissioning, project management, and field teams to deliver stable, reliable, and high-quality software throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities
Drive software engineering activities for locomotive control applications across multiple projects. Develop, integrate, validate, maintain, and release locomotive software in line with quality and process standards. Troubleshoot software issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Coordinate with system engineering, testing, commissioning, suppliers, and global teams for timely issue resolution. Ensure software compatibility with hardware and communication interfaces, while meeting railway safety and cybersecurity requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers. Prepare technical documentation and communicate status and progress to stakeholders. Support process improvement, roadmap planning, and software lifecycle activities.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. 8+ years of experience in locomotive software development, integration, testing, maintenance, and issue resolution. Good understanding of software requirements engineering and V-cycle development in accordance with EN 50716:2023. Strong knowledge of locomotive control systems, TCMS, traction, braking, auxiliary systems, and train communication networks. Experience with real-time embedded systems and protocols such as MVB, Ethernet, CAN, WTB, or TRDP. Familiarity with railway software, safety, testing, configuration, and defect-management processes. Experience with engineering lifecycle tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Jira, or SAP. Strong analytical, communication, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Exposure to AI-enabled engineering tools, Microsoft 365, and Copilot is an advantage.
