A backend engineer at a large e-commerce marketplace builds scalable production applications and designs data models and system architectures, using object-oriented design and design patterns. The role also applies cloud platforms and MongoDB to improve performance, reliability, and deployment.

Full job description

Responsibilities:

Own and deliver modules end-to-endfrom design and coding to deployment and monitoring.

Drive technical decisions and influence architecture to ensure high scalability, reliability, and performance.

Collaborate closely with PMs, QAs, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery and knowledge sharing.

Mentor junior engineers, review code, and set best practices for design, coding, and testing.

Identify gaps in systems and processes, propose improvements, and set up workflows to scale the engineering team.

Requirements:

3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining complex applications in production environments.

Deep knowledge of databases (NoSQL or relational), with solid data modelling experience.

Solid understanding of system design, object-oriented design, and design patterns.

Should be able to design small systems/servicesindependently.

Experienced in debugging, profiling, and scaling high-performance applications.

Strong problem-solving skills, able to handle ambiguity, and break down complex issues.

Have worked at a product-based company.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Good to Have:

Experience with Node.js or React.js .

Prior hands-on work with MongoDB.

Prior experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team is a plus.
