JOB INTRODUCTION:

The Senior Software Development Test Engineer leads quality engineering efforts for complex product areas by designing robust test strategies, advancing automation coverage, and driving high standards for software reliability across Tekion’s platforms. This role partners closely with engineering, product, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure quality is built into the development lifecycle from design through release. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in manual and automated testing, a proactive approach to risk identification, and the ability to influence quality practices across teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead test planning, test design, and execution strategy for complex features, system integrations, and major product releases

- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize automated test frameworks and test suites for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing

- Review product requirements, technical designs, and user stories to identify quality risks, gaps, and test coverage needs early in the development lifecycle

- Execute and oversee manual and automated testing across web, mobile, APIs, backend services, and platform components as applicable

- Partner with developers and product managers to investigate defects, support root cause analysis, and improve overall product quality

- Establish traceability across requirements, test cases, defects, and release outcomes to ensure comprehensive validation

- Drive API, database, system integration, and data validation testing for complex workflows and distributed systems

- Contribute to CI/CD quality practices by integrating automated tests into build and deployment pipelines

- Monitor release quality metrics, defect trends, and test effectiveness, and recommend improvements to reduce production risk

- Mentor junior and mid-level test engineers on test design, automation practices, debugging approaches, and quality standards

- Support test environment readiness, test data strategy, and release certification activities

- Champion continuous improvement of QA methodologies, tools, standards, and team processes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field

- 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software development, with strong experience in automation and complex system validation

- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software testing lifecycle (STLC), and Agile/Scrum methodologies

- Proven experience designing and executing comprehensive manual and automated test strategies

- Strong experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, REST Assured, or similar

- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar

- Experience testing APIs, databases, distributed systems, and end-to-end workflows

- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent

- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills

- Ability to lead testing efforts across multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

- Ability to use AI tools like Claude and Copilot to enhance the productivity and efficiency
