Senior Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

The person will drive thought leadership in designing, implementing, and delivering products to scale to current requirements and for expected future needs, based on a very rapid pace of growth.

Lead and manage a technical team to design and implement highly reliable, scalable, extensible, maintainable, and operable products and platforms.

Assess the current technology state, evaluate options, and define the technology strategy for the future in his areas.

Drive technology innovations to derive much higher efficiencies and greater customer delight.

Anticipate and manage the risks associated with day-to-day technology operations.

Ensure ongoing operational stability of the current applications and systems.

Build a highly motivated and skilled technology organisation that brings together domain knowledge, Technology excellence, and Data sciences with a strong penchant for problem-solving through sustainable solutions.

Lead the team to build systems that balance resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity.

Work closely with product management and design teams to define the next generation of products and platforms for the Indian e-commerce industry.

Requirements:

Experienced in managing a large and diverse organization and motivating the team to achieve desired outcomes in a very quick and agile manner

Proven experience in building and scaling engineering teams with direct experience in managing teams of teams.

Should have a total of 13 to 18 years of technology experience, having spent significant time in building highly scalable and high-performance online and offline applications and applying various design patterns.

Strong prior experience in the software development domain and principles, including design patterns, code structure, programming languages, continuous integration, and deployment architecture.

Strong exposure and experience in rolling out new technology solutions in a dynamic and complex environment.

Should have managed teams with senior-level engineers and architects.

Must have proactively driven product and/or technology planning exercises for the organisation.

Must have proven experience in driving dramatic product and/or process improvement changes within the organization.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Align well with Flipkart's culture - customer focus, drive, enthusiasm, honesty, humility.

BTech/B. E. or M. S. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or related fields).

Experience with building systems at a very large enterprise scale or at consumer Internet scale.

Understanding of large-scale distributed systems.

Expertise in leading teams that have delivered large system implementations.

Demonstrated leadership in at least some of the technologies that are core to Flipkart's tech products (distributed systems, cloud computing, supply chain systems, databases, web services, multi-tier client-server architectures, business intelligence, data analytics, enterprise applications, mobile devices, and communications protocols).

Analytical skills: complexity, capacity planning, performance engineering, statistics, and data analysis within large teams.

Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with demonstrated prior leadership.
