Your Job

Lead the development and validation of plastic, rubber, and metal components and their tooling for New Product Development (NPD) sourcing initiatives. You will partner with suppliers to run mold trials, qualify new molds and processes, troubleshoot molding defects, and drive process and productivity improvements that ensure parts meet design, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Our Team

You will join the Sourcing Engineering team that supports NPD and production ramp-up across Molex. The team works closely with product engineering, quality, and external suppliers to ensure robust, manufacturable tooling and repeatable molding processes

What You Will Do

Lead end-to-end tool and component development for plastic, rubber, and metal parts in NPD sourcing programs, ensuring manufacturability and supplier readiness.Own mold trial planning, new mold validation, and process qualification at supplier locations to secure first-time-right part release.Diagnose and resolve molding defects (e.g., short shots, flash, sink marks, burn marks, warpage) through root-cause analysis and effective corrective actions that prevent recurrence.Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cycle time, improve part quality, and increase tooling and process productivity.Ensure supplier processes and delivered parts adhere to applicable quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.Collaborate cross-functionally (design engineering, quality, procurement, suppliers) to transfer designs into reliable production and to support cost and lead-time optimization.Mentor/coach supplier tooling teams and junior engineers on best practices in tool making, mold trial execution, and troubleshooting

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Diploma in Tool & Die Making (NTTF preferred) OR a relevant engineering degree.5–10 years of hands-on experience in tool and component development and supplier-based mold trials/validation.Strong practical knowledge of tool design, manufacturing, and tooling processes for plastic, rubber, and metal parts.Proven experience troubleshooting molding defects and implementing corrective/preventive actions.Strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to travel to supplier locations as required.

What Will Put You Ahead

NTTF certification in Tool & Die Making.Experience with CAD/CAM tool design, injection molding simulation (Moldflow or equivalent), or die design software.Familiarity with quality standards and systems (e.g., ISO, PPAP, APQP) and experience executing process qualification protocols.Training or experience in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies.Prior experience managing complex supplier relationships and multi-site validation activities.
