Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, and lifecycle support of IT Rack and Data Center Infrastructure solutions. The role requires strong expertise in structural and sheet metal design, cold-formed steel structures, materials engineering, industry standards, and product validation for high-density data center applications.
The candidate will work across global cross-functional teams to develop next-generation rack platforms supporting AI, cloud, enterprise, edge, and colocation data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of IT racks, enclosures, containment systems, and related infrastructure solutions for data center applications. Develop robust mechanical architectures that meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and quality objectives. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and product documentation. Perform structural assessments and design validation for static loads, dynamic loads, seismic requirements, shipping, and transportation conditions. Drive material selection, structural optimization, and cost reduction initiatives for cold-formed steel and sheet metal assemblies. Support product validation activities and Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards. Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, test engineering, and product management teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualification And Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. 8-15 years of experience in product development with significant experience in IT racks, enclosures. Strong expertise in sheet metal design, cold-formed steel structures, welding, structural engineering, and materials selection. Proven experience in designing rack systems, enclosures, with focus on mechanical systems used in enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, or edge data centers. Hands-on experience with 3D CAD (preference for PTC Creo) and GD&T. Strong understanding of load calculations, structural integrity, vibration, shock, and transportation requirements. Experience in rack product validation, mechanical testing, and design verification activities. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding, forming, tooling, and assembly. Good knowledge of EIA-310, Open Compute Project specifications, and data center infrastructure requirements. Ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams and manage multiple technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills. Working knowledge of structural analysis and simulation tools such as ANSYS, or similar FEA software.
