The RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Automation Engineer / Senior SDET to build scalable automation solutions and drive quality engineering practices across enterprise applications and modern distributed systems.This role is ideal for someone passionate about automation, engineering excellence, developer productivity, and modern testing practices in fast-paced Agile environments. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, product, and platform teams to ensure high-quality software delivery through automation-first and AI-assisted quality engineering approaches.We are a small, high-ownership engineering team. What you build here will directly shape the reliability and velocity of zenda's platform as we scale across new markets.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and maintain scalable automation frameworks across web, mobile, APIs, and microservicesDrive automation coverage across functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testingTest APIs, microservices, and distributed/event-driven systems, including contract and integration validationIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot pipeline failuresSupport performance, load, and reliability testing for enterprise applicationsLeverage AI-assisted testing tools to improve test effectiveness and reduce manual effortContribute to engineering best practices and mentor junior automation engineers
Requirements4+ years of experience in Test Automation, Software Testing, or Quality Engineering, with strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworksStrong programming skills in Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar languagesHands-on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or equivalentStrong understanding of API testing, microservices, distributed systems, and modern application architecturesExperience with REST APIs, GraphQL, messaging systems, and asynchronous workflowsExperience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar toolsHands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environmentsFamiliarity with Kafka/RabbitMQ, Redis, and relational/non-relational databasesExperience with performance testing tools such as k6, JMeter, or GatlingUnderstanding of observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetryStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills; excellent communication and collaboration skills
