Job Summary

We are seeking a strong and experienced statutory accountant with a solid background in financial reporting, IFRS, local GAAP, external audit or technical accounting. The successful candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, sound judgement and the ability to apply accounting principles across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions.

Previous experience in CAPEX accounting, fixed assets or project accounting is advantageous, but it is not essential. CAPEX accounting can be learned. More important is an analytical mindset, attention to detail and a natural curiosity to investigate issues, challenge unusual results and understand the drivers behind financial outcomes.

CAPEX and fixed asset accounting will become the successful candidate’s area of specialisation. The role will support the accounting, reporting and statutory compliance of capital expenditure, fixed assets and capital projects within a multinational environment that reports under US GAAP while also meeting local statutory reporting and financial statement filing requirements.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised CAPEX expertise while applying and expanding strong statutory accounting and financial reporting skills within a dynamic global finance organisation.

Responsibilities

Support the accounting, reporting and statutory compliance of capital expenditure, fixed assets and capital projectsPrepare and review financial information, reconciliations and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirementsSupport the preparation of statutory financial statements and disclosures, ensuring compliance with local GAAP, IFRS and other relevant accounting frameworksAnalyse financial data, investigate variances and identify the root causes of accounting and reporting discrepanciesPartner with operational teams, project managers, procurement and other stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial informationSupport internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations and technical accounting supportContribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen controls, reporting quality and operational efficiencyAssist in the implementation and application of accounting policies within a multinational reporting environment, including exposure to US GAAP reporting requirementsStay informed of developments in accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements across relevant jurisdictionsSupport and collaborate with team members across finance and accounting functions to promote best practices and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)Strong experience in statutory accounting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, technical accounting, external audit or a related finance functionGood knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP or other recognised accounting frameworksExperience preparing, reviewing or supporting statutory financial statements and disclosuresStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve accounting issuesExcellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracyAbility to identify unusual trends, balances and variances and perform detailed analysis to determine underlying causesStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAdvanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systemsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced international environmentExperience with fixed asset accounting, CAPEX accounting, project accounting or asset management processesExposure to US GAAP reporting requirementsExperience working within a multinational organisation, shared services environment or global finance functionExperience supporting multiple legal entities and jurisdictionsKnowledge of Oracle or other enterprise financial systems
