SAP Finance & Controlling – Expert
Technical Competencies
Experience & Expertise
12+ years of deep, hands-on SAP experience across complex, global, multi‑country implementations, template design, rollouts, migrations, and AMS.
Recognized subject‑matter expert (SME) in SAP FI & CO, with advanced capability to architect end‑to‑end finance and controlling solutions.
SAP Finance (FI) Expertise
Expert-level configuration and solution design for:
General Ledger (New GL, Document Splitting, Parallel Ledgers)
Accounts Receivable & Credit Management
Accounts Payable & Automated Payments
Bank Accounting, Cash Management, Treasury & Risk Management
Asset Accounting including New AA & IFRS-compliant depreciation
Period-end closing, Financial Statement versioning, Accrual Engine
Group Reporting / Consolidation (desirable)
SAP Controlling (CO) Expertise
Mastery in:
Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting
Internal Orders & Budget Management
Product Costing (Standard, Actual, Material Ledger, Transfer Pricing)
CO‑PA (Top‑Down distribution, derivation, costing‑based & account-based)
Cost Object Controlling (PCC, Order settlement, WIP)
Ability to lead complex costing transformations and management reporting redesign.
Cross-functional & Technical Integration
Strong integration knowledge across MM, SD, PP, QM, PS, PM, and Central Finance scenarios.
Proven experience in leading end-to-end finance digital transformation with S/4HANA (desirable)
Desirable S4 skill set:
S/4HANA Finance innovations (ACDOCA, Universal Allocation, Universal Journal)
Migration Cockpit, CVI, FI/CO migration strategy, greenfield/brownfield conversions
Experience with SAP BTP, APIs, Fiori apps, CDS Views, workflow solutions.
EDI, IDoc architecture, and interface design experience.
Strong understanding of SAP Basis, Transport Strategy, Security & GRC touchpoints.
Tools & Methodologies
Expertise in ServiceNow / JIRA / SolMan ChaRM.
Experience leading Agile/Hybrid delivery models at scale (Desirable)
SAP Certification in S/4HANA Finance is highly desirable.
Functional Competencies
Deep understanding of global finance processes: RTR, OTC, P2P, FP&A, Treasury, Close & Consolidation.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable SAP solutions.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, tax structures, and compliance.
Proven ability to lead finance transformation programs, CO design strategy, and process re-engineering.
Excellent stakeholder management across C‑suite, Finance leadership, auditors, and global business teams.
Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
Strong leadership qualities—mentoring, guiding consultants, managing cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
Own and lead end‑to‑end SAP Finance & Controlling architecture for global implementations.
Define global templates, solution governance, and best practice standards.
Lead fit-gap workshops, high-level solution design (HLD), and detailed design (DD).
Review, validate, and optimize functional specifications across integration areas.
Program & Project Leadership
Drive S/4HANA finance transformation roadmap—greenfield, brownfield, or selective data transition.
Provide expert guidance in data migration, system conversion, cutover planning, and post-go-live support.
Lead teams of consultants across FI/CO and intersecting modules.
Run & Optimization
Provide top-tier L3 support for critical incidents, audit requests, and financial close cycles.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation (Fiori, workflow, RPA), and process optimization.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure solution compliance with corporate policies, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.
Provide strategic input to finance leadership on SAP capabilities, industry trends, and roadmap.
Training & Coaching
Mentor junior and senior consultants; build capability within the team.
Conduct expert-level training for Finance Controllers, Accounting teams, and IT staff.
