The role
A QA automation engineer at a financial markets data company designs Java test automation for real-time financial data systems, applying BDD frameworks and CI tools to validate software quality. The role uses Git and backend validation to expand automated coverage and investigate defects.
Full job description
You will join a team of around 25 members in charge of the Commodities analytics and grabbers applications on iSuite infrastructure, which is a real time infrastructure for financial data contribution. You will be responsible for the analysis, definition, build, construction, testing, and maintenance of properly engineered information systems, containing software as the major component to meet agreed business needs.
Follow test frameworks and quality standards.
Design and implement automated functional and non-functional test scenarios.
Write and maintain scripts, follow test driven design processes, and raise defects.
Dive into test behaviour and solve issues under guidance.
Follow test process guidance and use risk categories to raise issues. Understand the risks in your own work. Document clearly and contribute to test coverage.
Take ownership of your own work by delivering reliably, asking for help when needed.
Learn from others, and contribute to a positive team environment by listening, collaborating, and supporting shared goals.
Use data and guidance to understand tasks, ask questions to explore problems, and learn how to test assumptions.
Improve solutions through observation, measurement, and feedback.
Learn from changes in direction or feedback by adjusting my approach and reflecting on how to improve next time.
Take responsibility for building the foundation of my craft, not just learning by doing tasks.
Share updates clearly with the team and ask questions to understand others.
Desired skills:
Strong hands‑on proficiency in Java
Solid technical background with understanding of programming styles, frameworks, design patterns and integration testing
Use of source code management tools such as Git
Understanding of integrating automation frameworks with CI tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI to enable continuous testing.
Good knowledge of SDLC and test management tools, e.g. Jira, Test Rail
Understanding of the test lifecycle (planning, analysis, execution, reporting)
Problem solving and being pro-active when problems/issues arise
Understanding of BDD frameworks (Cucumber, Gherkin)
Good to Have :
Exposure to log‑based validation, backend validation, or data comparison
knowledge on python
