Full job description
As a Full-Stack Product Software Engineering Architect, you will be a hands-on technical leader, setting the standard for engineering excellence as you drive the architecture, design, and delivery of resilient, large-scale, distributed platforms. You'll impact technical direction and architecture across the organisation, mentor fellow engineers, and ensure our systems are robust, secure, and future-ready.
Responsibilities:
Architect, design, implement, and support secure, highly scalable, distributed, and decoupled backend and frontend systems for programmatic advertising.
Set technical direction and ensure alignment with best practices in code quality, maintainability, observability, and performance.
Establish, champion, and evolve standards for system design, testing, monitoring, and deploying low-latency microservices.
Act as a technical mentor, sharing knowledge, conducting code and design reviews, and helping engineers grow.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, translating business and product requirements into technical roadmaps and robust solutions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying optimisations and enhancements to systems and processes.
Support platform reliability by enhancing observability, promoting automated alerting, and participating in on-call rotations as needed.
Ensure compliance with Disney's best practices and security policies, including use of AI and automation technologies.
Serve as a domain authority and point of contact for technical stakeholders inside and outside engineering.
Requirements:
10+ years of software engineering experience with a leadership track record.
Advanced proficiency in Java and TypeScript.
Expertise in JavaScript libraries and frameworks, including React and Node.js .
In-depth experience building and scaling RESTful APIs and microservice architectures (preferably with Spring Boot).
Strong hands-on knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc. ), including schema and query design, as well as NoSQL (e. g., DynamoDB) database technologies.
BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of project ownership, technical leadership, and organisation-wide influence.
Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to influence engineering strategy and technical direction beyond the immediate team.
Experience promoting best practices for security, code quality, and operational excellence in a large-scale, distributed environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in ad tech.
Experience with programmatic advertising or real-time bidding platforms.
Experience with:
Spring Boot and related Spring projects.
Relational databases, such as MySQL or Postgres
Non-relational database technologies like DynamoDB.
JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as React, node.js .
Caching datastores such as Redis, Valkey, or Memcached.
Data streaming mechanisms such as Apache Kafka and/or AWS Kinesis.
Cloud platforms such as AWS.
Modern DevOps tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
