Full job description

At PhonePe, the HR Product & Analytics function supports the rapid scaling of the organization through consistent, data-driven, and intelligent systems for all people processes.

We are passionate about solving complex problems across the employee lifecycle by leveraging cutting-edge technology, automation, data intelligence, and AI-driven solutions. While still early in our journey, our intent is to build holistic solutions tailored to the needs of diverse teams. We keep the long-term architecture in mind, building stable, reliable platforms through continuous iteration. We prioritize a simple, intuitive user experience to minimize friction and maximize tech adoption. Data and automation are central to everything we do—our HR systems exist to provide intelligent guidance, predictive insights, and proactive support to employees and managers.

Job Description

As a Product Manager in the HR Product & Analytics team, you will:

End-to-End Functional & Technical Ownership: Take full ownership of one or more HR functional areas (e.g., Performance Management, Compensation, Learning & Tech Upskilling, Employee Experience). You will build process maturity roadmaps—progressing from isolated HR tools to connected, intelligent, and event-driven systems. Technical Solutioning & Engineering Collaboration: Act as a core technical thought partner to engineering teams. You should be able to break down complex business and operational workflows into tech architecture specs, API requirements, schema definitions, and event triggers. You will actively contribute to solution design, system design discussions, and trade-off evaluations. Data-Driven Flow Architecture: Use data modeling, event logs, and pipeline logic to map, explain, and validate complex user journeys. You will leverage telemetry and product analytics to continuously identify bottleneck steps, drop-offs, and manual touchpoints. AI & Agentic Workflow Integration: Conceptualize, prototype, and implement GenAI and Agentic AI use cases across the employee lifecycle (e.g., autonomous HR agents for policy resolution, AI-driven performance review synthesis, intelligent learning/upskilling recommendations, and predictive retention modeling). First-Principles & Systems Thinking: Map out end-to-end user journeys with extreme clarity. Simplify ambiguous problem statements into structured tech solutions while considering edge cases, scalable platform architecture, and system dependencies. Deep Hands-On System & Product Knowledge: Maintain a deep technical and operational understanding of modern HR tech infrastructure—including core HRIS configurations, data models, integration protocols (REST APIs, webhooks), and domain-specific SaaS tools. Agile Execution & Program Management: Define precise product requirements (PRDs), tech specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Drive cross-functional execution across engineering, data science, HR operations, and external implementation partners using robust Agile methodologies. Metrics & Continuous Iteration: Measure product success through defined quantitative metrics (adoption, latency, operational overhead reduction, CSAT/NPS) and continuously iterate based on data and qualitative feedback.

Qualifications

Technical & AI Capabilities:

Technical & Data Aptitude: Able to partner with engineers, understand system architectures (APIs, schemas, SQL), and use data/analytics to map out and justify system workflows. AI & Automation: Practical understanding of GenAI, LLMs, and agentic workflows to build intelligent HR co-pilots and automate repetitive employee tasks

Domain & Professional Skills:

First-Principles Problem Solving: Strong fundamentals in systems design thinking, organizational design, and user-centric process mapping. Cross-Functional Communication: Clear, precise communication skills to bridge the gap between business leaders, HR domain experts, and engineering/data teams.

Education & Experience:

3+ years of experience in Product Management (B2B, SaaS), exposure to technical solutioning Engineering background (B.Tech/B.E) combined with a Tier-1 MBA (optional)
