The role
VP Product Manager role at a reinsurance company, defining and leading underwriting analytics platforms and data-driven product strategy from vision through delivery. You will work with underwriting, data science, and engineering to modernize cloud-native, API-enabled analytics ecosystems using PySpark, Python, SQL, APIs, and distributed systems, with platform alignment to Stargate and Snowflake; responsible AI adoption and explainability in underwriting decision processes. About The Role
As a Vice President - Product Manager, you will own the strategic vision, technical roadmap, and enterprise delivery of underwriting analytics products and platforms. You will operate at the intersection of underwriting, data science, and engineering, translating business ambition into scalable, resilient, and high-impact technology solutions.
You will lead product strategy for mission-critical analytical ecosystems that power underwriting decisions globally, ensuring alignment with Swiss Re’s data architecture (including Stargate and enterprise platforms), AI/ML initiatives, and long-term digital transformation objectives.
This is a highly cross-functional leadership role requiring deep technical fluency, strong commercial understanding, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across underwriting, actuarial, risk, and technology functions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for Underwriting Analytics platforms and toolsDrive alignment between underwriting business strategy and analytics platform capabilitiesTranslate strategic objectives into prioritized product backlogs and measurable outcomesEstablish product KPIs tied to underwriting performance, portfolio steering, and capital efficiency
Technical & Architectural Leadership
Partner with engineering leads, data architects, and AI/ML teams to design scalable, modular, and high-performance analytics ecosystemsEnsure architectural alignment with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Stargate) and cloud strategyGovern technical standards for reliability, auditability, model transparency, security, and regulatory complianceDrive modernization of legacy analytical tooling into robust, cloud-native, API-enabled platformsEnsure interoperability between data pipelines, ML models, dashboards, and underwriting workflow systems
Execution & Delivery Excellence
Lead cross-functional squads comprising engineers, data scientists, app developers, and analystsOversee end-to-end product lifecycle: discovery, design, build, deployment, monitoring, and iterationImplement strong governance around release management, testing, observability, and technical debt managementEnsure high availability and performance of business-critical analytical systems
Stakeholder & Change Leadership
Act as a strategic partner to senior underwriting and business leaders globallyInfluence executive stakeholders through data-backed product strategy and measurable value realizationBuild trusted relationships across underwriting, actuarial, risk, portfolio steering, and technology communities to proactively identify emerging needs and opportunities.Drive adoption of analytics tools through change management and clear value articulationCommunicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiencesChallenge assumptions constructively and help business stakeholders identify scalable alternatives to localized solutions.
User Journey & Underwriting Experience Leadership
Map end-to-end underwriting journeys to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, manual workarounds, and opportunities for automation and optimization.Develop a deep understanding of how information is created, consumed, and transformed across the underwriting value chain.Identify hidden dependencies, data handoffs, process friction, and "black-box" decision points that impact underwriting effectiveness.Design product capabilities that improve the flow of information from source systems through to underwriting decisions.Ensure products are intuitive, understandable, and embedded into day-to-day underwriting workflows.
Innovation & AI Enablement
Identify and scale opportunities leveraging AI/ML, generative AI, advanced analytics, and automationChampion experimentation frameworks and innovation pipelines within underwriting analyticsFoster a product culture centered on measurable impact, usability, and continuous improvementEvaluate emerging AI capabilities through the lens of underwriting workflows, user adoption, governance, and measurable business outcomes.Drive responsible AI adoption by ensuring explainability, transparency, and operational integration into underwriting decision processes.Identify opportunities where AI can remove friction from information discovery, decision support, and workflow orchestration.

You will operate in a global, matrixed environment where collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and delivery excellence drive meaningful business outcomes.
About You
You are a technically sophisticated product leader with a strong engineering foundation and a deep understanding of data-intensive platforms. You think in systems, not features. You are comfortable debating architecture with engineers, challenging model assumptions with data scientists, and discussing commercial trade-offs with underwriting leadership.
You combine strategic thinking with operational rigor and thrive in environments where complexity and scale intersect.
