Product and System Excellence Leader

The Lead Product Owner and System Integration is accountable for the strategic direction and business outcomes of the Digital Energy Software portfolio comprising multiple related Power Management and Building Management System (BMS) product offerings. The role requires deep, hands-on domain knowledge across electrical power monitoring, metering, power quality, protection, energy management, HVAC and building automation, supervisory control, field devices, and their integration with edge supervisors, SCADA platforms and cloud offerings. It translates customer, market and business needs into a coherent portfolio vision and leads end-to-end software system integration testing, product quality and TPO activities across edge, supervisory, SCADA, connectivity and cloud capabilities. The position combines portfolio-level product ownership, leadership of Product Owners, software system integration test leadership, quality governance and controller hardware lifecycle accountability to deliver secure, reliable, scalable and commercially successful Power and BMS solutions.

The successful candidate will use strong Power and BMS domain expertise to oversee the performance, positioning, roadmaps and investment priorities of multiple product offerings; lead, coach and align the Product Owners responsible for individual offerings or value streams; own the software system integration test strategy, environments, automation and release-quality evidence across edge supervisors, SCADA systems and cloud offerings; and ensure reliable interoperability with controllers, devices, third-party systems and installed-base solutions.

Key Accountabilities

Product Ownership and Business ValueDefine and communicate the portfolio vision, value propositions, target customers and outcome-based roadmaps for multiple Power Management and BMS product offerings, aligned with portfolio and business strategy.Own the coherence and overall performance of the product portfolio, balancing growth, customer value, innovation, lifecycle health, technical sustainability and investment across offerings.Lead, coach and develop Product Owners accountable for individual products, platforms or value streams; establish clear decision rights, objectives and accountability for outcomes.Set the product operating model and common standards for discovery, roadmap management, backlog quality, prioritization, release planning, acceptance and performance measurement.Integrate offering-level roadmaps into a single portfolio plan, identify dependencies and shared capabilities, and resolve priority or resource conflicts across Product Owners and engineering teams.Guide Product Owners in translating Power and BMS customer workflows, market needs, electrical and building-system regulations, cybersecurity requirements and operational needs into clear system requirements, epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.Maintain portfolio-level priorities while ensuring that individual product backlogs are aligned, actionable and focused on the highest-value outcomes.Make or facilitate timely investment and trade-off decisions across offerings, considering customer value, revenue potential, technical risk, quality, cost, performance, availability and time to market.Represent the voice of the customer across the portfolio throughout discovery, development, validation, launch, adoption and lifecycle evolution by working closely with league leaders.Govern release objectives and readiness across offerings, review product increments and support Product Owners in accepting delivered capabilities against agreed outcomes and quality criteria.Use customer feedback, market evidence, field data, service insights and business metrics to evaluate offering performance and redirect roadmap priorities where needed.Maintain transparent alignment with stakeholders on portfolio outcomes, investments, dependencies, risks, decisions and delivery progress. Software System Integration Test Leadership – Edge, SCADA and CloudProvide site leadership support to System Integration Test team, oversee the end-to-end software system integration test strategy for Power and BMS offerings, validating workflows from field devices and controllers through gateways, edge supervisors and SCADA systems to cloud applications, analytics, APIs and third-party enterprise platforms.Review critical software integration scope, test sequencing, verification methods, coverage models, entry and exit criteria, acceptance thresholds and release-quality evidence in partnership with System Integration test leads, software architects, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams.Establish and govern representative software integration environments spanning edge supervisors, SCADA, cloud applications, gateways, controllers, simulated and physical devices, databases, historians, identity services, APIs and third-party integrations.Oversee validation of edge-to-SCADA and edge-to-cloud interfaces, including protocol translation, data ingestion, command and control, alarms, events, trends, schedules, historian functions, dashboards, reporting and remote operations.Drive functional, API, protocol, interoperability, regression, user-interface, performance, scale, resilience, failover, cybersecurity, upgrade, migration, backward-compatibility, offline and recovery testing across on-premises, hybrid and cloud deployment models.Review multi-site and fleet scenarios, tenant isolation, role-based access, configuration deployment, licensing, telemetry, observability, diagnostics and lifecycle-management workflows for Power and BMS cloud offerings.Ensure end-to-end traceability from customer and software requirements to test cases, automated suites, defects, corrective actions and release evidence.Participate in cross-functional triage and resolution of complex software integration defects.Provide technical leadership for the controller and gateway hardware lifecycle supporting regulatory and value engineering activities. Test Automation and Quality GovernanceGovern the end-to-end quality strategy across the Power and BMS portfolio.Drive a risk-based quality approach with consistent quality gates, acceptance thresholds and evidence requirements across all product offerings.Establish and evolve a scalable test automation strategy spanning API, protocol, user-interface, integration, system and end-to-end layers, with automated execution integrated into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.Guide the selection and lifecycle management of automation frameworks, reusable libraries, simulators, test rigs, test data and reporting solutions.Chair portfolio quality reviews at site level and govern defect trends, escape analysis, corrective and preventive actions, technical-debt closure and quality improvement plans.Define portfolio quality metrics and dashboards, including requirements and risk coverage, automated regression coverage, defect containment, test effectiveness, reliability and field-quality indicators.Partner with Product Owners, engineering, cybersecurity, operations, suppliers and field teams to embed prevention-focused quality practices throughout discovery, design, development, integration, release and lifecycle support.

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.15+ years of relevant product development experience, including significant leadership across integrated hardware-software products.Mandatory: substantial product and engineering experience in both Power Management and Building Management Systems, with demonstrated understanding of customer applications, market dynamics, installed-base considerations and end-to-end solution architecture.Demonstrated leadership in software system integration testing, test automation and quality governance for complex Power and BMS solutions spanning edge supervisors, SCADA platforms, cloud offerings, devices and third-party integrations.Demonstrated experience leading product ownership across multiple product offerings, platforms or value streams, including direct leadership, coaching or functional oversight of Product Owners.Experience leading globally distributed, cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders without relying on formal authority.Experience working with external design partners, manufacturers, certification bodies.

Technical Knowledge

Mandatory Power Management expertise: strong knowledge of electrical distribution architectures; power monitoring and control; metering; power quality; protection and control devices; energy management; electrical-system operation; and integration with supervisory, edge and cloud applications.Mandatory BMS expertise: strong knowledge of building automation architecture; HVAC control; controllers, sensors and actuators; supervisory systems; alarm, trend and scheduling functions; field commissioning; and integration of building subsystems.Mandatory protocol and interoperability knowledge: practical expertise with relevant Power and BMS communication technologies such as Modbus, BACnet, ION, KNX, M-Bus, OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs and IP networking, including gateways, edge supervisors, SCADA platforms, cloud connectors, data models, interface specifications and third-party system integration.Strong understanding of software architecture and end-to-end behaviour across embedded applications, edge supervisors, SCADA platforms, databases, connectivity services, APIs, messaging, identity, observability and Power and BMS cloud offerings.Working knowledge of requirements engineering, interface specifications and system behaviour sufficient to derive integration test scope, verification methods, coverage and acceptance criteria.Strong knowledge of software system integration test architecture, test design techniques, requirements and risk traceability, API, protocol and interoperability testing, regression strategy, performance and scalability validation, resilience and failover testing, fault injection, observability and defect root-cause practices.Hands on experience of test automation frameworks, API and protocol automation, containerised test environments, device and controller simulation, CI/CD integration, cloud test environments, automated reporting and quality analytics.Strong knowledge of secure-by-design practices, threat modelling, secure boot, identity, encryption, vulnerability management and product security lifecycle expectations for connected Power and BMS products.Knowledge of applicable electrical, building automation, quality, safety, environmental, electromagnetic compatibility and market certification requirements.Proficiency with Agile product practices and lifecycle tools for backlog, requirements, architecture, test and defect management.

Experience with adjacent connected products, IoT, industrial automation or similar cyber-physical systems beyond the mandatory Power Management and BMS background.Experience with platform-based product development, reusable architecture and multi-variant product families.Formal certification in Product Ownership, Agile, systems engineering or project management.Practical exposure to field deployment, diagnostics, serviceability and telemetry-driven product improvement.
