The Manager, HR Technology is responsible for leading the daily HR Technology operations, SLA compliance, and technical deliverables of the Bangalore-based support team while serving as an active, hands-on technical contributor. This role balances people management, coaching, and directing work with active participation and leadership in Workday and other related projects, as well as managing key customers and partnerships.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong leadership background and a broad, versatile configuration skillset across Workday Core HCM and within multiple functional modules. This position is highly operational, focusing on ticket-queue optimization, process design, global release coordination, and mentoring a team of analysts with varying levels of experience.
Principal Accountabilities
Directly lead and inspire the Bangalore-based HR Technology analyst team, focusing heavily on mentoring, coaching, developing, and actively engaging team members.Oversee the daily incoming ticket queues and task assignments for the local team, monitoring SLAs and identifying operational bottlenecks to implement queue management best practices for timely and high-quality support resolution.Serve as the primary on-the-ground point of escalation for complex technical issues, troubleshooting, and configuration roadblocks encountered by the team.Actively contribute as a hands-on technical expert by personally resolving high-impact, tier-3 support tickets and executing complex configuration changes, testing, and system maintenance within Workday.Apply broad configuration expertise across Workday Core HCM, Business Process Framework, Security Groups, and additional modules (such as Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, or Learning) to support business requirements.Lead local and global system enhancement initiatives, small-to-mid-sized projects, and configuration rollouts, ensuring all deliverables are executed on schedule and meet compliance standards.Partner closely with global HR Tech leadership to align on support priorities, resource planning, and project roadmaps, while overseeing local efforts for automated regression testing and Workday biannual release testing cycles.Act as a trusted technical advisor to regional and global HR stakeholders, translating business requirements into scalable Workday system solutions.
Skills And Software Requirements
A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in HR systems, with at least 5 years dedicated specifically to Workday HCM configuration, reporting, security, and support.A minimum of 2 years of formal people management or team leadership experience, with a proven track record of supervising direct reports and managing support queues.Broad-based, deep Workday configuration experience; strong functional knowledge of Core HCM, Business Process Framework, Reporting and Security configuration is required. Practical configuration experience in multiple functional areas (such as Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, or Learning) is highly desirable.Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills within a complex, multi-module Workday environment.Outstanding interpersonal and business communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative partnerships across global time zones.Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
