Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

This is the right role for someone who has experience working for or with an IT Services (ITS) and/or Global Systems Integrator (GSI) technology consulting firm, or a Fortune 1000 company. If you are a leader who has managed a team of Solution Architects and are a problem solver with broad technical skills, got hands-on experience working in a public cloud environment, and have the ability to drive technical conversations then this is the perfect role for you.

Key job responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Technical Leadership

Lead critical customer engagements including cloud adoption and migration programs, and complex technical challenges with high-stakes outcomes Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior business and technical leaders, operating at a strategic level and creating opportunities for your team to act as trusted advisors Apply deep technical understanding across multiple domains to invent, evolve, and simplify solutions that drive customer success

Team Leadership & Development

Coach and develop a team of experienced Solutions Architects to elevate their technical capabilities and strategic advisory abilities Build a high-performing team through effective hiring, onboarding, and continuous skill development Foster a culture of technical excellence and customer obsession Maintain a high bar for operational excellence; define and maintain appropriate cadences for inspecting the business in your area

Strategic Impact & Collaboration

Champion your area’s customer needs with senior leaders within AWS Bridge customer needs with AWS product teams, ensuring customer feedback drives product improvements Partner with senior leaders within AWS sales, specialist, and engineering teams to deliver comprehensive solutions and clear obstacles to customer success

About The Team

A team of high performing Solution Architects with diverse and strong technology backgrounds working together to help our ITS and GSI customers make the best of AWS services

Basic Qualifications

10+ years of enterprise IT application work that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development or DevOps engineering experience 8+ years of technology solutions development and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing experience Experience leading and growing teams of senior technology professionals, ideally in customer facing roles Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, statistics, computer science, business administration or a related field 4+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud AWS Professional level certification
