A backend engineer at a payments platform designs scalable payment systems and applies microservices architecture and RESTful API design, with additional expertise in Golang and DevOps practices.
Full job description
As such, we are seeking experienced and passionate Engineers to join our team. As part of Grab's payments team, you will be responsible for designing, delivering and maintaining high-quality and scalable solutions to meet the payment needs of Grab. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager II.
Responsibilities:
Architect scalable, high-performance backend systems using a platform-driven approach.
Mentor a team of software engineers, encouraging a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with teams to define technical strategies and feature specifications.
Make high-level design decisions and establish technical standards for software development.
Optimise system performance, reliability, and efficiency across the product ecosystem.
You provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews to ensure best practices.
Partner with DevOps teams to enhance system scalability and operational efficiency.
Stay current with the latest technologies and industry trends to lead innovation within the team.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
8+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years focused on designing and building scalable systems.
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking.
Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as Golang.
Extensive experience with backend systems, including databases, caching, NoSQL, and application servers.
Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams.
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Demonstrated leadership in driving technical decisions and defining engineering standards.
