The role

A head of information technology at a large e-commerce marketplace oversees enterprise infrastructure and IT operations, leading Network Engineering, data-centre operations, and IT service management across distributed locations. The role directs infrastructure security, vendor governance, and reliability programs for retail and warehouse technology.

Full job description

Requirements:

18-20 years of experience across IT infrastructure, enterprise technology or IT operations.

At least 6-8 years leading infrastructure for a large, geographically distributed business, ideally across 500+ physical locations.

Relevant experience in retail, quick commerce, e-commerce, logistics, telecom, manufacturing or BFSI.

Experience leading distributed internal and partner teams of 100+ across NOC, Service Desk, field support and regional IT.

Direct ownership of large infrastructure budgets and vendor spend, including multi-year telecom, hardware and managed-service contracts.

Technical and operational depth:

Hands-on ownership of SD-WAN/MPLS, LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi architecture, last-mile connectivity and network redundancy.

Strong experience with data-centre operations, compute and storage, backup, DR/BCP and enterprise end-user computing.

Experience standardising and managing warehouse/store technology such as handhelds, POS devices, CCTV, access control and workplace systems.

Strong command of IT service management, incident and problem management, asset lifecycle, monitoring and automation.

Working knowledge of infrastructure security and compliance frameworks including ISO 27001 PCI-DSS, and SOC 2

Leadership qualities:

Builds repeatable mechanisms instead of solving each site as a one-off problem.

Balances reliability, security and cost, and can make clear trade-offs under operational pressure.

Communicates directly during incidents and holds teams and vendors accountable through closure.
