The role analyzes net interest income forecasts, stress testing, and balance-sheet sensitivities while guiding analysts and supporting regulatory governance.
Full job description
The Asset Liability Management (ALM) team within Global Treasury is responsible for optimizing the company’s balance sheet while maximizing net interest revenue (NIR) within our risk appetite and regulatory constraints. Key functions within ALM include balance sheet and NIR forecasting and interest rate risk (IRR) management which are supported by groups focused on data analytics, balance sheet modeling and senior management and Board reporting. ALM is also responsible for coordinating the company’s deposit pricing strategy, return on capital and funds transfer pricing methodologies and balance sheet strategy. ALM works closely with other functions across Global Treasury, Finance, Risk Management and Business Units.
Successful candidates will have relevant experience at large financial institutions. They will be required to partner cross-functionally within the organization and across geographies. Candidates for this position are expected to:
Lead and provide guidance to a team of 4–5 analysts
Develop and coach teammates with a focus on coaching and retaining talent
Promote a culture of risk excellence by challenging assumptions, escalating potential issues and executing required controls to support oversight and governance requirements
Work closely with teammates and key business partners to analyze impacts to corporate and material legal entity NII forecasts and IRR metrics from different balance sheet strategies
Support new quarterly stress testing initiative and firm-wide scenario execution
Work closely with model developers and oversight partners on balance sheet model enhancements and redevelopment
Analyzing output and ensuring reasonability of results
Ensuring timely preparation and delivery of ALM reporting including NII and EVE sensitivities
Providing value added analytics is a fundamental expectation of the role as is ability to provide strategic input into time critical initiatives
Apply knowledge/skills handling complex problems and/or coordinating work which may extend beyond own area of expertise; share expertise with colleagues and other departments
Key Responsibilities & Experience Range
Follow procedures and maintain existing processes, but also think critically about forecast and IRR topics to build subject matter expertise
Report and analyze actual balance sheet, NII and IRR trends to support month-end and quarter-end processes
Respond in a timely and accurate manner to ad-hoc requests
Qualifications
Minimum of postgraduate degree, preferably in Finance or related field, MBA preferred and having FRM and CFA qualification is a plus
8-12 Years of experience in banking, financial services. Treasury ALM related experience preferred
Skills/ Knowledge:
Ability to influence others and lead a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective at presenting results to key stakeholders including senior management and external regulators
Strong quantitative aptitude/skills and experience modeling complex financial concepts
Detail oriented and effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience using software applications to define and solve complex business problems
Knowledge of financial markets
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must possess strong communication skills with ability to participate in conference calls and contribute to presentation of financial results to financial and non-financial audiences at various levels of seniority
Solid business knowledge as it relates to the financial services industry
Financial product and institution knowledge
Self-motivated, self-assured, and self-managed
Results oriented ownership mindset
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint in addition to other reporting visualization tools; experience with QRM (Quantitative Risk Management) preferred
