A Snapshot of Your Day
You will be Design Lead for nacelle canopy systems, leading design, supplier quality, and manufacturing excellence. The role involves collaborating with global teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, cost-efficient, and high-performance composite solutions. You will support product development, enable design improvements, and ensure alignment with engineering standards while contributing to innovation and continuous improvement.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of composite canopy (nacelle cover) systemsDrive material selection and structural validation of composite components (glass, carbon, hybrid)Define and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and best practicesWork closely with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) to qualify, develop, and audit suppliersEvaluate supplier capabilities and support sourcing decisionsResolve technical issues through root cause analysis and corrective actionsOversee manufacturing processes including vacuum infusion, RTM, prepreg, curing, and finishingOptimize tooling, processes, and product cost through value engineeringConduct failure analysis and implement robust design improvementsEnsure compliance with international standards (IEC, ISO, APQP)Support field issues, warranty cases, and repair solutionsContribute to product standardization, modularization, and architecture optimizationCollaborate across global functions to improve cost, quality, delivery, and riskDrive innovation through new materials, technologies, and digital toolsMentor engineers and support technical capability development across the team
What You Bring
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field would be preferred; relevant experience will also be considered15+ years of experience in composite structures, preferably in wind, aerospace, or automotive industriesStrong expertise in composite manufacturing processes and large structural componentsProven experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional teamsProficiency in structural analysis tools such as ANSYS or AbaqusSolid understanding of quality systems, supplier development, and auditsKnowledge of IEC and ISO standards, APQP, and related frameworksCooperative and target-oriented mindset with strong stakeholder collaboration skillsStrong communication skills to work effectively with global teamsTeam player
