Derivatives - Senior Associate

Role Overview

The Senior Associate within the OTC trade processing team in Global Process Delivery, focusses on ensuring the accuracy of the OTC trades and valuation. The role involves interaction with various units locally and overseas. The Senior Associate should possess the ability to learn new skills, embrace change and communicate effectively. Effective communication, Accuracy, timeliness and delivery of client service are imperative in this position.

The candidate is expected to be flexible with shifts.

Responsibilities & Tasks Include

Carry out basic and complex trade processing and valuation functions in accordance with established procedures.Processing Trades sent by clients to OTC Hub and MCHReviewing/auditting trades processed by other team members to ensure accuracyEnsure OTC valuation team receives proper information to value OTC positionsEnsuring compliance with standard operating procedures and write new procedures where requiredTrain new employees until they are prepared to handle function without oversightRespond to internal queries from Accounting or Client Service teamsRespond to reconciliation breaks from internal recon teams regarding cash or position breaksResolution of queries with internal teams, clients, vendors, counterparties etc.Answer and handle complex issues and queries and escalate as needed acting with a sense of urgency to meet required deliverables.Work closely with inter-departmental contacts to ensure that the required deliverables are delivered with high qualityIdentify risk issues, breaches and act in accordance with the 'risk' escalation chain and operating proceduresResolution of queries with internal teams, clients, vendors, counterparties etc.Be accountable for assigned tasks and deadline.Work closely with the Team Leader and bring issues that require management attention on a timely mannerSupport the business to offer great quality client service and ensure that the assigned deliverables are planned and delivered efficientlyBe accountable for assigned tasks and deadline for self and for the teamQuality control - Be able to audit the accounting / verification data input and establish control over the overall process accuracy within the KPIs agreedDocumentation – Be able to review and correct the process documentation such as process flows, Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and coach the teamUnderstand the end to end process and be able to seek support to clear out inter process upstream / downstream dependencies. Suggest process improvements and be able to seek support to drive projects to create efficiencies / enhance controlsUnderstand the client requirements and guide the team towards efficiently managing its deliverables

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor degree or above3+ Experience in financial services and/or a back-office operations environment.Derivatives trade processing related experience is a mustStrong MS Office skills would be an added advantageFlexibility with shifts

Skills/ Knowledge

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and possess strong problem solving and resolution skills.Advanced working knowledge of accounting fundamentals with respect to the workability of various financial instruments, especially derivativesExpert knowledge of Internal Systems, MS office (excel, word) and good working knowledge of MS PowerPoint. Knowledge of database management systems MS access / Visual basic/ Macros would be an added advantageStrong mathematical and analytical skills essentialData & Analysis - Posesses strong attention to detail. Demonstrate good analytical skills in resolving the team issues and facilitates decision makingKnowledge of derivative instruments (OTC in specific) is a mustHighly organisedAbility to work under pressure and to tight deadlinesExcellent attention to detailAbility to meet deadlines and possess strong problem solving and resolution skills.Detailed oriented individual capable of performing in a high pace environmentAbility to work independently as well as a team playerGood understanding of financial services and investment products.Strong attention to detail and a focus on service.Strong PC skills, specifically Excel skills (Intermediate)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and industry deadlines.Strong problem resolution skillsAbility to work well in a fast paced, high volume atmosphereShould possess good time management skills
