Role intent

A DGM-level role within the Test Automation CoE, focused on hands-on automation leadership, quality engineering adoption, AI-enabled testing, and close partnership with application delivery teams.

Role Overview

The Deputy General Manager - Applications will be responsible for driving test automation adoption, quality engineering practices, and engineering excellence across Schneider Digital application portfolios.

The role will work within the Test Automation Center of Excellence to help delivery teams accelerate automation adoption, improve quality outcomes, strengthen release confidence, and increase engineering productivity.

The ideal candidate combines strong automation expertise, hands-on technical capability, stakeholder management, and a passion for modern quality engineering and AI-enabled testing practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Automation Strategy & Adoption

Drive adoption of Test Automation CoE standards, frameworks, and best practices across application portfolios.

Partner with application teams to identify automation opportunities and accelerate implementation.

Define automation roadmaps and improvement plans for supported programs.

Promote reusable automation assets and common automation patterns.

2. Automation Delivery Excellence

Design and implement scalable automation solutions across ERP, web, mobile, integration, and enterprise applications.

Improve automation coverage for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Support project teams in automation planning, implementation, execution, and maintenance.

Reduce manual testing effort and improve release quality through automation.

3. Quality Engineering

Support the shift from traditional testing practices to modern quality engineering approaches.

Promote shift-left testing and early defect detection.

Improve release confidence through risk-based testing approaches.

Drive continuous improvement in quality metrics and testing effectiveness.

4. AI-Enabled Testing

Evaluate and implement AI-driven testing solutions.

Drive adoption of AI-assisted test case creation, automated test maintenance, intelligent test execution, test data generation, and AI-enabled quality analytics.

Identify opportunities to improve productivity using GenAI and emerging technologies.

5. CI/CD & DevOps Integration

Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to automate release validation activities.

Improve deployment readiness through continuous testing practices.

Support agile and DevOps delivery models.

6. Performance Engineering & Quality Assurance

Support implementation of performance testing and reliability validation practices.

Help establish standards for application quality and performance benchmarking.

Assist project teams in identifying quality risks and remediation actions.

7. Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with project teams, engineering leads, architects, and delivery managers.

Provide advisory support on automation strategy and quality improvements.

Present automation progress, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Collaborate with vendors and partners to adopt industry best practices.

8. Capability Building

Mentor automation engineers and quality specialists.

Support capability-building initiatives within the Test Automation CoE.

Contribute to training, certification, and knowledge-sharing programs.

Foster a culture of automation, innovation, and continuous learning.

Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience in several of the following: TOSCA, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, API Automation, Python, Java, Test Automation Framework Design, CI/CD Integration, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Performance Testing Tools, and AI-enabled Testing Solutions.

Experience

Required

6-10 years of experience in software testing, automation, quality engineering, or application engineering.

2+ years of experience leading or coordinating automation initiatives.

Experience designing and implementing automation frameworks.

Experience supporting enterprise applications, ERP systems, web applications, or digital platforms.

Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.

Preferred

Experience with TOSCA, Playwright, or enterprise automation platforms.

Experience working in large global organizations.

Exposure to AI-enabled testing and GenAI tools.

Experience mentoring automation teams or leading small technical teams.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Relevant certifications in automation, testing, agile, DevOps, cloud, or quality engineering are desirable.
