Basel Capital Analytics - Assistant Vice President

Who we are looking for

The Capital Analytics function within the Basel Office plays a key role in ensuring that the capital impacts of State Street’s activities and exposures are properly measured and reflected in the management decision making process. The ideal candidate will combine analytical experience, knowledge of the U.S. capital rules and of the upcoming Basel III Endgame framework, project management skills and an ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization. The individual will lead Capital Analytics projects including impact assessment of new businesses/new products, restructuring of existing deals, upcoming rules impact analyses, capital optimization efforts, Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) and developments of business requirements associated with system upgrades.

What you will be responsible for

As Basel Capital Analytics AVP you will:

Engage in strategic Basel related analytical projects pertaining to Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) and Leverage Ratios

Build analytical frameworks to support the organization in analyzing and quantifying the impact of upcoming regulations and deliver critical insight to management to inform their strategic decisions

Develop business requirements for the implementation of new regulations or RWA calculation capabilities for new activities

Evaluate State Street’s current regulatory capital position compared to its local and international peers including reviewing industry best practices, analyzing peers Pillar 3 disclosures etc.

Support business units with regulatory inputs and capital dashboards to better integrate capital into their decision making process including providing technical expertise for new products and restructuring of existing deals

Perform data manipulation and aggregation using SQL and Excel reports to support the completion of industry QISs

Assist business units with their ad-hoc scenario analyses/RWA modeling requests and provide meaningful inputs with respect to the profitability of the Bank’s activities in the future

Investigate data quality issues and identify areas where the Bank’s RWA calculations can be optimized through data enhancements

Advanced knowledge of the U.S. capital rules and of the upcoming Basel III Endgame  framework including an understanding of risk management (e.g. credit market and operational risk) aspects

Project management skills including, particularly with respect to system maintenance and enhancement

Ability to interact with all levels of management including crafting and positioning messaging for senior executives

Excellent verbal communication skills and proven ability to present complex regulatory matters to management or industry forums

Capable of managing and analyzing large swathes of data

Proficient in Excel/SQL and other similar tools

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors in Finance, Economics, or related field

Masters in Finance or Business Administration preferred

5-8 years prior experience in the banking and/or financial services industry with an advanced knowledge of banking industry products and services and capital markets activities
