What You'll Do

Define and own the technical architecture for backend systems.

Lead the design of distributed backend platforms and microservices, setting standards for reliability, scalability, security, and performance.

Mentor and elevate engineers, raising the technical bar across the team and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

Identify and mitigate systemic technical risk before it impacts delivery, proactively surfacing trade-offs.

What Will Make You a Great Fit

10+ years of experience designing and building backend systems, with a proven track record of architecting large-scale, distributed systems in production using Go (Golang), Java, or comparable languages.

Expertise in distributed systems and API design: microservice architecture, event-driven systems, data consistency models, and failure/resilience patterns at scale.

Architectural-level experience with public cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including cost modeling and infrastructure strategy for large-scale systems.

Strong proficiency with relational databases.

Excellent communicator, able to align a team of engineers around technical direction and explain that direction clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Comfortable being the technical decision-maker. You can hold a strong opinion, defend it with evidence, and change it when the evidence shifts.

Passion for gaming and experience architecting backend platforms that power player experiences at scale.

Experience architecting online service platforms or backend systems for AAA games.
