What You Can Expect

We are seeking a seasoned and technically authoritative Automation Tech Lead to anchor our Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) within the Zimmer Biomet GCC. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical owner of our RPA and Intelligent Automation delivery pipeline — responsible not only for hands-on development, but also for leading the development team, setting engineering standards, and driving the evolution of our automation practice as per Zimmer Biomet’s Automation Architectural standards.

You will work in close partnership with Zimmer Biomet's AI/Automation Architect and global stakeholders to translate business automation goals into scalable, enterprise-grade solutions. This role carries both a strong technical leadership mandate and direct accountability for the quality, governance, and outcomes of all automation deliverables within the GCC.

How You'll Create Impact

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

Serve as the technical authority for all RPA and Intelligent Automation initiatives within the GCC, owning end-to-end solution design decisions Lead the design and review of automation architectures using Blue Prism (v6.x / v7.x), UiPath, and Power Automate Desktop / Cloud, ensuring scalability, reusability, and maintainability Define and enforce REFramework, queue management, exception handling, and coding standards across the team Evaluate new tools, platforms, and AI-augmented automation capabilities (OCR, Microsoft Copilot, Gen AI / LLM) and recommend adoption roadmaps Provide final technical sign-off on Solution Design Documents (SDDs) before development commences

Development & Delivery

Develop and oversee the delivery of complex, enterprise-grade RPA solutions integrating with SAP ECC / S4HANA, web applications, Outlook, Excel, and third-party systems via Blue Prism API and Web Services Ensure robust database interactions using SQL Server and Oracle, and guide the team on scripting in C#.NET, VBA, Python, and SQL Implement and promote best practices for OCR, Microsoft Copilot automation, and emerging Generative AI / LLM use cases within automation workflows Oversee bot deployment, Control Room monitoring, SLA adherence, and production support protocols across all live automations

CoE Governance & Standards

Own and continuously evolve the CoE's automation governance framework — including standards for PDD, SDD, Bot Charter, As-Is / To-Be documentation, and User Manuals Lead process feasibility assessments, pipeline prioritization, and ROI estimation in collaboration with the AI/Automation Architect and business stakeholders Build and maintain a library of reusable components, design templates, and accelerators for use across the development team Champion compliance with IT, infrastructure, and security requirements across all automation solutions

Team Leadership & Mentoring

Lead, guide, and mentor a team of Senior and Junior RPA Developers, providing actionable feedback Drive team capability building — identifying skill gaps, supporting certifications, and creating learning pathways aligned to the evolving automation landscape Set clear delivery expectations, track progress, and proactively manage technical risks and blockers within the team Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement within the automation team

Stakeholder Engagement & Agile Delivery

Act as the primary technical point of contact for Zimmer Biomet’s Solution Architect/Manager, business stakeholders, process owners, and cross-functional IT teams during automation engagements Lead requirements validation sessions, design walkthroughs, and UAT planning in collaboration with business analysts Drive Agile delivery ceremonies and manage tasks, defects, and change requests through JIRA and ServiceNow Present automation outcomes, pipeline status, and CoE metrics to senior leadership as required

Required Qualifications & Skills

Must-Have

10–14 years of overall IT experience with a minimum of 10+ years in RPA development and delivery Proven experience independently designing, developing, and deploying 25+ RPA bots/processes across end-to-end automation lifecycles from PDD and SDD through build, testing, deployment, and production validation Proven track record in leading RPA teams (6+ associates), including technical direction, workload allocation, mentoring, code reviews, and performance oversight Deep, hands-on expertise in Blue Prism (v6.x and v7.x) mandatory; Blue Prism Developer certification strongly preferred Strong working knowledge of UiPath and/or Power Automate Desktop / Cloud Proven track record in SAP automation (ECC / S4HANA) and complex Web-based automation at enterprise scale Expertise in queue-based processing, enterprise exception handling patterns, and Control Room operations Strong proficiency in SQL (SQL Server / Oracle) and scripting in C#.NET, VBA, or Python Solid command of the full RPA lifecycle — from process discovery and PDD through SDD, build, UAT, and hyper care Strong documentation and governance skills — PDD, SDD, Bot Charter, As-Is / To-Be Hands-on experience with JIRA and ServiceNow for delivery management and incident tracking Strong experience in production support and monitoring — including server patch validation, post-patch verification, issue resolution, and ensuring system stability for live bots Hands-on working knowledge of Power Automate Desktop as a complementary automation platform Proficient in Power BI for automation metrics, operational dashboards, and data-driven decision support Strong command of Agile methodologies — sprint planning, task management, dependency tracking, and cross-team coordination Demonstrated expertise in process reengineering — evaluating existing processes, identifying automation opportunities, and building business cases for efficiency improvements Domain experience in at least one of: Banking & Financial Services, Healthcare, or equivalent regulated industry

Experience with OCR and intelligent document processing platforms Exposure to Microsoft Copilot automation and Generative AI / LLM concepts applied within automation contexts Knowledge of HTML5 for advanced web automation scenarios Advanced MS Excel skills including macros and VBA Knowledge of Automation Anywhere (fundamentals or beyond) Prior experience in a GCC, Shared Services, or CoE environment UiPath or Power Automate certification in addition to Blue Prism
