Assistant Vice President – Learning and Development Purpose of the role
The Learning and Development role will design and deliver end-to-end learning solutions across multiple business verticals and locations in India. The role holder will demonstrate strong influencing and stakeholder-management skills while leading complex learning assignments and driving strategic priorities that support the L&TD team’s goals.
In This Role, You Will
Partner with HSBC business leadership, the Learning & Talent Development CoE, HR and Global functions to define and implement sustainable learning initiatives aligned with business strategy and HR priorities. Design, develop and deliver end-to-end learning solutions that build leadership and behavioural capabilities and support business outcomes. Lead learning data analysis, measurement and reporting to assess learning consumption, programme effectiveness and measurable business impact. Manage learner compliance with mandatory and recommended learning requirements, onboarding training, exemptions and exceptions in line with HSBC policies and regulatory standards. Provide functional expertise to identify and resolve complex learning and capability-development challenges, while independently executing and operationalising development programmes and processes. Drive strategic learning initiatives, management information and audit-ready reporting, ensuring that learning metrics are measured, published and used to support decision-making. Act as a performance-improvement consultant by analysing needs, developing solutions and executing strategies to strengthen leadership capabilities and create a consistent, high-touch learning culture. Manage L&TD investment through effective planning, budgeting, forecasting and vendor management, while overseeing India learning and capability-development programmes in collaboration with Technical Learning Teams.
To be successful you will: Functional Knowledge
Graduate in any discipline with 14–18 years of experience in Learning & Talent Development, with a strong track record of establishing credibility and delivering results. Relevant experience managing learning processes and practices in a matrix environment. Proven experience in designing, developing and delivering end-to-end learning solutions across diverse business areas and locations. Strong understanding of leadership, behavioural capability development and performance-improvement consulting. Advanced capability in learning measurement, analytics, management information and insight generation. Demonstrable experience in programme, project and change management, with a strong focus on execution and delivery. Ability to make rational decisions, manage complex scenarios and resolve issues with minimal guidance or supervision. Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, communication, conflict-resolution and team-leadership skills, with a solution-focused approach and the ability to balance quality with a “good enough” mindset.
