Full job description
Algorithm Developer
Company OverviewOptym is a global company offering decision-support software and algorithmic solutions to major transportation and logistics organizations, including Southwest Airlines, Saia LTL Freight, Estes Express Lines, Old Dominion Freight Line, TForce Freight, FedEx Freight, Amazon, and BHP. Optym builds custom software, licenses its suite of optimization products, and funds internal research to solve some of the hardest network planning and scheduling problems in the industry — from large airlines to trucking owner-operators to city transit agencies. Our Bangalore Development Center is a core part of Optym's global engineering organization, working on complex algorithmic and technology challenges that directly drive business outcomes for our clients. We're expanding the India team and looking for strong talent to join us.
Role OverviewWe are looking for an Algorithm Developer to join the DriverPlan engine team. In this role, you will design and build flexible, scalable, production-grade algorithmic solutions using strong data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design — primarily in a .NET/C# environment. You'll work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing, turning real-world planning and scheduling problems into efficient, maintainable software.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize algorithms that automate and improve complex business decisions using large data sets.Apply state-of-the-art algorithms, heuristics, and metaheuristics to deliver production-grade solutions for real industry problems.Build robust, well-architected algorithmic components in C#/.NET, applying strong object-oriented design principles.Translate complex constraints and requirements into clean data structures, models, and algorithmic logic.Conduct performance tuning, testing, and iterative improvement of algorithms and software components.Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to integrate algorithms into Optym's platforms.Constantly raise the bar on quality, consistency, maintainability, efficiency, and security of the codebase.Stay current with new developments in algorithms and software engineering, and help define engineering best practices.
Mandatory RequirementsB.Tech/B.S. or M.Tech/M.S. in Computer Science or a related field.2–4 years of hands-on experience in algorithm development and software engineering.Strong computer science fundamentals: object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.Strong programming experience in C#/.NET is mandatory.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.A genuine obsession with quality, craftsmanship, and customer experience.
Desired SkillsWorking knowledge of Python for prototyping, data analysis, or supplementary algorithm development.Experience with domain-driven design, interfaces, and dependency injection within .NET.Knowledge of network flow algorithms, combinatorial optimization, or graph algorithms is a strong advantage.Exposure to relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL) for data extraction and analysis.Exposure to machine learning concepts and an interest in how ML/AI can complement algorithmic and optimization work (e.g., forecasting, prediction, clustering).Comfort using GenAI tools/techniques to accelerate development, testing, and algorithmic experimentation, along with a genuine appetite for continuous learning.
