Job Description Summary
As Structural Design Engineer, you will support design and analysis of structure model of a composite wind turbine blade with accountability & ownership for assigned responsibilities through fundamental understanding of FEA methods & processes. In this role, you will utilize your experience to independently execute FEA activities during different phase of product design by providing clear and timely results. Further, you are expected to develop self-expertise on design and analysis methods & processes for smooth task execution.

Roles and Responsibilities
Own composite structure design & analysis for NPI blade and develop design solutions that are competitive in performance, cost, and quality.Partner closely with Lead Structural Engineer to deliver FEA results within stringent timeline from predesign phase to implementation in factory. Perform FEA analysis of composite structure concepts using ABAQUS, PATRAN & In-house tools.Highlight critical design risks for failure modes related to 3D FE evaluation and suggest mitigation plan.Ensure documentation of FEA results on final design to ensure fulfilment of all certification and internal design criterions for the blade structure.Collaborate with Test and Validation centre of excellence to ensure necessary FEA evaluation for Test blade by ensuring all regulatory compliance and internal test requirements.Support in technical discussions/meetings related to blade structure with customers and/or certification bodies and represent GEV.Lead and/or participate as a presenter and/or reviewer in structure design reviews.Contribute towards root cause analysis of blade failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace or Civil Structural Engineering from a reputed university2-5 years of experience in a mechanical structural design engineering position1+ years of experience in composite material structural design and analysis preferably in wind turbine rotor bladeExcellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skillsGlobal experience with proven ability to work with international and/or cross-functional teams across cultural boundariesFluent in English, Verbal & Written
Desired Characteristics
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace or Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural stream from a reputed universitySolid background in mechanical design with sound engineering fundamentalsWillingness to learn GEV inhouse blade design tools and processes.Proficient in structural finite element analysis using ABAQUS/PATRAN with focus on results interpretation and presentation for faster design iterations.Familiarity with GD&T, 2D Drawings, Teamcenter, Work Instructions with some understanding of Product Lifecycle ManagementAbility and willingness to learn legacy design processes, safety factors, materials.Demonstrated ability to work in global & cross functional projects, with timely update to stakeholders on assigned responsibilitiesProactive, self-motivated, and innovative in approach with focus on possibilities than limitationsWillingness to travel (domestic/international) at short notice for around 20% of time
