Mid-level Principal System Applications Engineer role at a semiconductor company (Infineon) in Edge AI and IoT system solutions; you lead system-level projects translating marketing requirements into technical requirements and architecting hardware/software for Edge AI, IoT, wireless connectivity, HMI, motor control, and sensor fusion. You work with C and C++, RTOS such as Free RTOS or Zephyr, embedded platforms including Infineon XMC/PSoC/OPTIGA, Arduino, STM32, iMX RT, or Raspberry Pi, real-time debugging with PCB schematic review, oscilloscope and logic analyzer, and use Python for scripting/data analysis plus TensorFlow or PyTorch, TensorFlow Lite/TinyML model optimization/quantization, and IoT protocols like Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Matter, BLE Mesh, and Thread with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT (including embedded security like secure boot and TLS/DTLS with OPTIGA). As a Principal System Applications Engineer in our IoT Solutions team, you will lead the design and delivery of system-level projects that showcase how Infineon silicon and software can enable differentiated features in Edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things(IoT) applications.

As a Principal System Applications Engineer in our IoT Solutions team, you will lead the design and delivery of system-level projects that showcase how Infineon silicon and software can enable differentiated features in Edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things(IoT) applications. Projects can include proof-of-concept demonstrations, reference designs, and application specific evaluation /development platforms. You will be part of Infineon’s Consumer, Computing, & Communication (C3) Segment, focused on Edge AI and IoT applications. Key Responsibilities in your new role:Translate marketing requirements into technical requirements and specificationsCreate hardware and software architectures for system projectsDefine technical architecture strategy and direction for IoT system projects, serving as the team's technical authorityMentor and guide junior and senior engineers through technical reviews and design feedbackWork with project managers to develop engineering project plansCollaborate with cross-functional team members to create system-level solutions that can include Edge AI, wireless connectivity, human machine interfaces (HMI), motor control, and sensor fusionPublish software via GitHub and create technical documentationSupport go-to-market activities for solutions including conducting technical training, attending trade shows to demo solutions, and supporting lead customers.

Your Profile

Qualifications And Skills To Help You Succeed

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electronics and Communication Engineering (required);advanced degree preferred.10+ years' experience with embedded systems, IoT, and Edge AIExperience with C, C++.Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as Free RTOSor Zephyr.Experience with Embedded software or microcontroller platforms such as Infineon, XMC, PSoC, OPTIGA, Arduino, STM32, iMX RT or Raspberry Pi.Experience with hardware design and debug skills including PCB schematic review, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and hands-on board bring-up.Experience with Python scripting and data analysis, TensorFlow or PyTorch frameworks.Experience with model optimization or quantization for embedded AI (TinyML, Tensorflow Lite, etc.)Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modern IoT protocols (Matter, BLE Mesh, Thread) including experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT.Experience with embedded security fundamentals including secure boot, TLS/DTLS, and familiarity with Infineon OPTIGA Trust security solutions.Strong communication skills.Collaborates effectively across different functional groups.Preferred Qualifications:Experience defining or contributing to technical product roadmaps in collaboration with product marketingExperience with Infineon Modus Toolbox SDK and AIROC Wi-Fi/Bluetooth portfolioPublications, patents, or conference presentations in the embedded AI or IoT domain.
