Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site Staff Engineer role based in Bangalore. The Staff Engineer will contribute to lead the mechanical design and development team of advanced telecom, 5G, RF and electronic equipment. The role will be responsible for managing engineering teams, driving product development from concept to production, and ensuring mechanical, thermal, structural, environmental and manufacturing requirements are met.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Expereince:12-15+ Years experience. Min 5 years experience in Core domian
Key Responsibilties:Lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers and engineering resources.Own mechanical design and development of Optical Network Terminals, Optical Line Terminals, Optical Transmission (DWDM/OTN), Carrier Ethernet Routers & Switches.Expertise in Sheetmetal material selection and manufacturing process.Drive the complete product development lifecycle from concept, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, validation and production release.Develop robust mechanical architectures considering Thermal Management, Structural Integrity, Environmental protection, corrosion resistance, EMI/EMC considerations, Manufacturing and servicabilty.Lead DFM/DFA and cost-reduction initiatives with suppliers and manufacturing teams.Evaluate and select materials, coatings, fasteners, seals, gaskets and surface treatments for harsh/outdoor environments.Manage external suppliers and manufacturing partners for prototypes, tooling and mass production.Establish mechanical design standards, design guidelines and engineering best practices.Review technical risks and provide mitigation plans during design reviews.Mentor engineers and develop technical capability within the mechanical engineering team.Drive innovation in mechanical design, exploring new materials, technologies, and processes to enhance product performance and reduce costs.Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to implement best practices in mechanical design and engineering.Manage engineering schedules, resources, priorities and deliverables.Participate in customer and cross-functional technical discussions when required.Knowledge of Sheet metal material, Aluminium and magnesium alloys, Engineering plastics, Corrosion protection and surface finishing, Sealing and gasket design, Fasteners and bolted joints.Lead design validation and verification processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., NEBS: GR-63-CORE, GR-487-CORE, ETSI, TSEC).
