Job Purpose: The role involves managing fire safety operations, adequate staffing, equipment readiness, and responding to fire emergencies. Responsibilities include maintaining fire safety systems, conducting regular equipment checks, and overseeing training programs for safety and emergency preparedness. The position requires monitoring and reporting on safety compliance, supporting audits and inspections, and upholding business sustainability through adherence to various safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

Lead Safety & Fire

Operational Management And Readiness

Manage fire safety manpower, ensuring adequate staffing and readiness for all shifts.

Attend to all rescue/fire calls during the shift within premises and site.

Ensure the fitness and readiness of fire tenders, accessories, and other firefighting equipment.

Assist seniors in the performance of various fire prevention/firefighting duties, as required.

Communicate administrative/firefighting matters to the seniors, as needed and ensure effective communication systems from the fire station are maintained.

Check and ensure all outsourced fire staff or other contracting agencies are reporting for duty as per requirement.

Equipment And System Maintenance

Maintain and check fire safety systems regularly to ensure efficient operations.

Conduct periodic and standard tests of all fire station equipment, appliances, and breathing apparatus sets.

Responsible for the monthly checks and quarterly maintenance of fire extinguishers as per schedule.

Oversee the refilling of fire extinguishers and maintain records of occurrences and equipment status.

Ensure periodic tests of all fire station equipment, appliances, and BA sets during shifts as per station check sheet requirements.

Training And Campaigns

Conduct Safety induction Training and vertigo test for new staff and workers of agencies and support in safety campaigns and participate in mock drills to prepare staff for emergency situations.

Conduct various EHS Training programs and track training data and ensure the completion of mandatory training hours as per CEA regulation.

Provide support and required information for investigation of near-miss incidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.

Conduct awareness sessions for agency workmen to reinforce safety standards.

Track and ensure monthly safety virus campaigns to highlight and mitigate potential safety risks.

Provide support for audits and inspections- daily, weekly, monthly to maintain high safety standards and continuous improvement.

Monitoring And Reporting

Upload daily safety observations for the whole plant in GENSUITE.

Conduct weekly initiatives at assigned areas, prepare reports, and monitor compliance.

Ensure the display of safety signages to maintain awareness and compliance.

Manage the availability and usage of PPEs by staff and workers of agencies at the site as per service order.

Compile and report critical observations for fire safety of the entire plant.

Business Sustainability

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Conduct various audits and surveys, including night vigilance, dry grass survey, and critical area audits.

Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Release and monitor Hot work permits in the plant for its compliances.

Ensure adherence to compliances as per KRONOS.

Conduct stand-down meetings and conduct trainings for Rapid Response Team (RRT) members.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably in Fire Safety or Chemical Engineering) or related field and mandatory Advanced/Post Diploma in Industrial Safety or Degree (BSc/MSc) in PCM; MSc. in Chemistry + Post Diploma/Advance Diploma or B.Sc. in Fire Engineering/ B.tech Fire Engineering.

Work Experience (Range Of Years)

8+ years of experience in fire safety management and operations within the power or heavy industry sector.
