Full job description

Job Title: Manager – Inventory Finance

Location: Ahmedabad

Department: Finance and Accounts

Job Overview

We are looking for a sharp, data-driven Inventory Specialist to own multi-location inventory control, unit economics, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) optimization across our supply chain network. In this role, you will bridge the gap between financial governance and operational execution—managing stock levels across multiple SKUs and fulfillment locations while improving working capital efficiency and gross margins.

Key Responsibilities

1. Multi-Location & Multi-SKU Inventory Governance

Establish and run multi-location inventory control systems, tracking stock movements across regional warehouses, third-party logistics (3PL) nodes, and retail centers.

Maintain complete reconciliation mechanisms between physical inventory, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/Business Central), and general ledgers.

Institute robust cycle counting, perpetual inventory controls, and quarterly physical audit frameworks to eliminate shrinkage, stock leakage, and phantom inventory.

2. Inventory Days & Working Capital Optimization

Design and track core inventory health metrics, including Days Sales of Inventory (DSI / Inventory Days), Stock Turnover Ratio, Sell-Through Rates, and GMROI.

Collaborate with Supply Chain and Demand Planning teams to establish dynamic safety stock, reorder levels, and economic order quantities (EOQ) by SKU category.

Drive aging analysis (Fast-moving, Slow-moving, Non-moving / FSN analysis) and execute liquidation/clearance strategies for aging or near-expiry stock to minimize write-offs.

3. COGS & Gross Margin Management

Lead COGS analysis, breaking down direct material, freight-in, warehousing, batch variance, packaging, and fulfillment costs down to the SKU level.

Identify margin erosion drivers and lead cost-reduction initiatives across procurement contracts, batch yields, and logistics expenses.

Build automated Management Information Systems (MIS) dashboards to monitor SKU-level gross margins and unit economics on a real-time basis.

4. Process Automation & Cross-Functional Alignment

Automate manual reconciliation workflows and inventory valuation frameworks within the company’s ERP system.

Partner with Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams to align sales forecasting with production schedules and capital commitment plans.

Key Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Supply Chain Management. (Qualified CA, CMA, or MBA in Finance preferred).

Experience: 3–6 years of experience in Inventory Costing, or Operations Finance—preferably within Retail, E-Commerce, FMCG, or Manufacturing sectors handling extensive multi-SKU profiles.

Technical Expertise:

Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, NetSuite) and WMS platforms.

Strong skills in SQL, Advanced Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.

Core Competencies:

Deep understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation models (FIFO, Weighted Average), and gross margin mechanics.

Strong analytical capabilities with a track record of driving measurable reductions in working capital cycles.

Performance Success Metrics (KPIs)

Reduction in overall Inventory Days (DSI) without triggering out-of-stock events.

Zero variance/unexplained gap in monthly inventory reconciliations across all locations.

Direct reduction in SKU-level COGS and overall working capital lockup.

Minimization of inventory write-offs, expiry losses, and stock wastage.
